After signing the contract in triplicate (no copy machine here), there's little else to do but pack up and return home, since we'll be seeing Xanadu again.
The board, our family, Daji, and I exit the study en masse. Tina nudges me. "You know I'm staying with you."
"And I am as well," Kryptosia adds. "Dylrirra too. Odin and the task force can cover the inn."
I know better than to argue. Besides, it will set my parents' and grandparents' and the board's mind at ease.
Fuxi puffs smoke. "I'd like to--"
"NO, Fuxi. We need your skepticism to keep the board from giving away the inn," Daji replies. "Loki could trade it for mead and Wukong for Pearls of Infinity."
"You know where the Pearls of Infinity are?" Wukong squeaks.
Daji rolls her eyes. "Figure of speech. Whether they exist is dubious at best."
"That's not fair, Aunt Daji," Wukong complains.
"That's 'Your Imperial Majesty' to you," Daji says with a toss of her hair.
