Explosions and other noises began to sound from outside. By this point, magic-detecting barriers and senses were meaningless and wasteful of resources, so I started to feel magical movement coming from outside the castle and it had indeed begun.
I would have to chant a detection spell to see everything more clearly and with more range, but luckily, Number 2 is nearby and watching hidden in the shadows and all is well.
