Muk made a dull sound and pointed forward with its sticky fingers. The Grimers immediately rushed ahead at the sound.

"Let's go, now!" Normally, Ash would accept any challenge, but in such a tight space, he had to consider Misty and Officer Jenny. The sheer number of opponents made it clear—this wasn't the right place to battle.

Hearing him, the group quickly followed his lead. Magnemite stayed close and leaped into action alongside them.

"Why are there so many Grimers and Muk?" Misty asked, frustration clear in her voice as she ran.

"It seems this has nothing to do with Magnemite," Ash replied. "Those Magnemites earlier must've been driven off by these Pokémon!"

Ash's reasoning was simple: if Magnemite were part of the problem, it wouldn't have tried to warn them—it would've attacked instead.

"Ash, do you see what's wrong here?" Brock asked, frowning as he kept up with the group.

"It's what Officer Jenny said earlier," Ash began.

"What?" Jenny asked, momentarily confused by his response, before recalling the context.

"Contaminating the purification device! This environment may benefit everyone and most Pokémon, but not Grimers and Muk." When Ash saw the Grimers emerging, he recognized the issue instantly.

"You're saying…"

Officer Jenny's expression darkened, while Brock and Misty pieced it together.

Indeed, purifying the pollution might be good for the residents and other Pokémon who thrived in cleaner environments. However, for Grimers and Muk, the toxins provided a safe haven. By purifying the area, humans were inadvertently destroying their home. Their actions weren't unjustified—they were defending their territory.

"This city used to be a thriving metropolis," Ash explained as they ran. "But when industrial progress caused pollution, it created an ideal habitat for Grimers. Now humans want to change it back, but that leaves the Grimers with nowhere to go."

Magnemite, on the other hand, wasn't dependent on the environment. Being a mechanical Pokémon, it could adapt easily, absorbing energy wherever it was available. It didn't face the same stakes as the Grimers.

Even so, Magnemite showed gratitude to the city's inhabitants, standing its ground against the Grimers to protect them. This clash reminded Ash of a game he once played. There were no true villains or heroes between hunters and monsters—just living beings fighting to secure their habitats.

The monsters bring destruction to the hunters, but when humanity begins to harm nature itself, it seems inevitable that something will rise to hold them accountable.

As the group hurriedly escaped, they found themselves on a platform on the west side of the power plant. The platform overlooked the seaport and was surrounded by guardrails on all sides. Ahead lay the vast sea.

"There's no way out!" Misty exclaimed, her voice tinged with panic as she reached the edge of the guardrail.

"Wait, look over there!" Brock interrupted. He moved closer to the rail, hearing something faint. Peering over the edge, he spotted a lower passage. However, it was completely blocked by a dense mass of Grimers pressing their sludge-like bodies together.

"Grimers? Why are they down there?" Misty asked, her face showing both confusion and concern.

"I get it now," Officer Jenny said as realization dawned. "No wonder the power is out!"

"Are these Grimers causing it?" Ash asked.

"Yes! This power plant relies on water flowing through that passage to generate electricity. If the passage is blocked, the power supply is cut off!" Jenny explained, gesturing toward the obstruction. The polluted water from the surrounding areas, once unfit for use, was redirected to generate electricity. But now, even that was compromised.

"So, if we deal with the Grimers, the power can be restored!" Misty said, her eyes lighting up with understanding.

"Exactly!" Jenny confirmed.

"Then let's handle it right away!" Brock said firmly. There was no time to debate right or wrong. His mind was focused on the Pokémon in the Pokémon Center, who were relying on electricity for their treatment.

"I'm sorry, Grimer," Brock murmured, his tone tinged with guilt. "But we don't have another choice. The Pokémon in the Pokémon Center are in greater danger. We have to prioritize them."

"I don't think it'll be that simple!" Ash said, turning toward the blocked passage. Emerging from it were more Grimer silhouettes, and as he glanced back toward the guardrail, his heart sank. A large group of Grimers was climbing up from below, their numbers overwhelming.

The group found themselves surrounded, with no clear way out and the situation growing more dire by the second.

There were even more Grimers emerging from the polluted water, filling the gaps and further blocking the entrance to the water channel. As they surged upward, they quickly surrounded Ash and the others.

"What do we do now that we're surrounded?" Misty asked, her voice laced with worry as she scanned their increasingly grim situation.

"I'll take care of Muk! The rest is up to you!" Ash declared. The space here was wide enough for a proper battle, but with so many opponents, their best bet was to take down Muk first, the apparent leader.

"Got it! Leave it to us!" Brock responded with determination, pulling out a Poké Ball. Misty followed suit, preparing her own Pokémon for battle.

"Pikachu, Thunderbolt!" Ash commanded, focusing on the Grimers ahead. Pikachu leapt forward, its cheeks sparking with electricity.

"Pika... Chuuu!!!"

A surge of electricity shot forward, striking several Grimers and paralyzing them on the spot. Taking advantage of the opening, Ash made his move and pushed ahead.

"Muk!" The large Pokémon let out a guttural cry, opening its mouth wide to unleash a volley of purple Sludge Bombs.

"Axew, use Dragon Rage!" Ash shouted as he tossed another Poké Ball. The ball burst open, and Axew appeared, roaring fiercely. Its blue energy swirled within, gathering in its mouth before launching forward in a powerful blast.

The Dragon Rage met Muk's Sludge Bomb in midair, resulting in a deafening explosion that sent shockwaves through the area. Smoke filled the battlefield, obscuring the view momentarily.

All around, the remaining Grimers began advancing aggressively. Brock and Misty wasted no time, releasing their Pokémon into the fray to hold back the tide. The battle was on, with the group giving everything they had to overcome the overwhelming odds.
