[Gotham City, New Jersey, October 1st, 1988]
Clouds covered the grey night sky like a damp blanket. The pitter patter of rain fell through the whole city. A black truck drove hard down the weather rocked road. The car weaved recklessly through Gotham traffic.
Meanwhile inside the vehicle four craven criminals were sweating bullets. Each of them is a twisted bundle of fear and adrenaline.
"You think we lost him?" One of the said voice shaky with fear.
"Shut up you damn idiot or you'll jinx us!" The driver said voice more rage than fear but full of both parts. The four crew members braced themselves as the driver swerved right and between three cars. Still the drove and as the driver checked his rear view mirrors and they seemed home free.
"Yo Mike what the hell was that thing?" The monster in the passenger seat said.
"I don't know I've never seen anything like that Luca." The driver, Mike said his eyes racing across the dark roads of the Bowery.
"Hey you guys see anything?" Luca asked turning his head back to look at the other two in the car. Only he saw nothing but empty chairs.
"What the f- ahhh!" He shouted just in time for the window next to him to smash open and for him to be tossed out of it. The sounds of crashing glass and bullets from Luca's hand gun followed by an abrupt halt to his screams.
Mike screamed and in his fear he started losing control of the car. However he managed to get control of it while still maintaining his high speed. Hyperventilating he steadied the vehicle. However his sudden panic only grew when another voice came from behind him.
"Wow. Im impressed. I thought you'd loose control and crash." A dark figure said from the no longer vacant back seat. Because of this Mike turned to look at the back seat only to find it occupied only by the dark figure they had been trying to escape. Mike made a strangled noise of shock and completely lost focus of the road.
"Oh never mind. You might want to turn around." Robin said lifting a finger to point towards the front window. Mike somehow still coherent enough to turn looked back at the front only to see a light pole coming for him like the jaws of death. Then it hit and his vehicle smashed in a hail of metal and glass.
Then about ten minutes later Mike managed to regain his consciousness and pulled his aching body out of his ruined car.
As he crawled out into the flashing light of the ruined pole he stopped as he met the steal toed boots of the caped boy wonder. The broken gangster coughed out his own blood and a few teeth. Mike still confused could barely tell what was going on as he looked up at the shadow looming over him.
"Well. Looks like you lived. Well done I suppose. Anyway when you wake up confess or you'll be seeing me again." The dark prince said monotone and deeper than any boy his age should be capable of voice changing tech had seen to that.
"Wh-wha-?" Mike said trying to look up at the vigilante's shadowy figure. Mike barely had the time to blink the blood out of his eyes when the dark birds boot lifted and crashed down upon his bruised and broken face.
Robin after knocking the criminal unconscious cuffed and tied him to a pole using web fluid dyed black in order to stay on theme of course. Can't have people thinking he's some spider themed hero when he's clearly a bird themed one. Still after he tied the man up he brought out his bat brand one of the few things he liked from the Snyder verse Batman. After a few seconds of screaming and another punch to send the criminal back to the land of the unconscious.
Reaching up to his ear the young vigilante uses his ear piece to contact Alfred. Then he spoke into the ear piece. "Penny-1 I've apprehended the last of the criminals. All but one have been given permanent injuries however they will still have the ability to work in less taxing career paths. The last has been branded and has no internal injuries but some broken ribs and a concisions. I'm returning to base please prepare a bath and dinner."
"Very good master Bruce I have already drawn the bath once you have finished your meal will be ready." Alfred said as posh and British as ever but the grief that haunted his voice before has begun to fade.
"Right on my way." Robin said before mounting back up on the Robin bike. Revving the engine a few times he hit a wheelie while turning around and drove off. As he road at high speed weaving in and out of traffic he pulled out a phone and put in a text.
Elsewhere at the G.C.P.D. officer James "Jim" Gordon is sitting at his desk cleaning up for the night when suddenly a vibrating buzz came from his pocket. Surprised he reached into his pocket and quickly checked his surroundings to make sure he was alone.
Then he took out the phone. "Hello?" "Criminals car crash by the Bowery members of the Odessa mob sending the location Robin out."
After that the voice hung up and Jim was left to figure the rest out. Meanwhile Robin drove his bike bake towards the mansion. After weaving through traffic and empty alleys and tunnels he arrived in the batcave.
Taking off his suit he walked over to the now much larger bat computer. The device was a massive modern quantum computer with all the gizmos and amenities a tech junky could ever want or need. As such it didn't take much time for him to start writing his case file for the night.
As he began to type away Alfred came down from a elevator behind Bruce.
"Master Bruce, your bath is ready and your dinner will be waiting for you shortly." Alfred said as he walked up behind the young vigilante.
"Thank you Alfred please keep it warm for me. I'll be up as soon as we I finish my work." Bruce said. His voice was always monotone these days and to Alfred it seemed like the young boy repressed all emotion. At the time they started this crusade they were both grieving. Alfred agreed to this but now he was wavering due to his worry for Bruce's mental state. After all he was an innocent child who quickly became a hardened killer and detective over a matter of days. He wouldn't even let the former spy out into the field of battle with him.
Alfred hesitated before speaking his mind. "Master Bruce I… I wanted to speak to you about your… schooling."
"Weave been over this before Alfred. As of right now home schooling is my best option."
" I know master Bruce but I can't help but think-" "Don't think about it then." Bruce cut the British butler off with a harsher tone than intended. Alfred fell silent before nodding and heading back up.
Bruce waited until Alfred was gone before he let out a sigh. He knew he was taking advantage of the butler but it was a necessary evil. As for school he hardly had time for such things with his current schedule. Weather it was training, his business, or his more extracurricular activities he just didn't have the time and energy to do all that and go to elementary school.
Still as I typed out my crusade against gothams several notorious criminal organizations. I couldn't help myself from reconsidering his point. Even so what mattered most was the mission. In order fight my war on crime I would need allies, after all nobody wins a war alone.
