Everyone gathered around the long table in the meeting room, the mood tense but not yet hostile. The ceiling lights buzzed softly above, casting a subtle white glow across the faces of heroes, mutants, and former enemies. Aiden stood at the head of the room, hands resting on the table as he looked around at his assembled team—his allies, his friends, and those who, for better or worse, had a history with him.

"Alright," Aiden began, his voice calm but commanding. "Before we dive into anything big, introductions first. Everyone, this is Wanda." He gestured to the woman seated quietly near Pietro. "I suppose you all know her already... from the Galactus Incident."

There were nods around the table, murmurs of acknowledgment. Even the ones who hadn't fought alongside her directly had certainly heard the stories. The power she wielded. The fear she instilled. The respect she demanded.

Aiden took a moment to look around the room. To his immediate left and right sat his original crew—Rogue, Kitty Pryde, Noriko, Jubilee, and Bobby. Trusted comrades. Battle-tested. With them were Gwen and Valeria, the team's technical heart. Across from them sat the newest additions: Pietro, fast as ever, and Wanda—the Scarlet Witch herself. And then, further down, almost at opposite ends of the table from one another, sat two women that drew most of the tension in the room—Emma Frost and Mystique.

It was Noriko who broke the silence, her tone sharp and suspicious as she fixed a narrowed gaze on the two infamous women. "Not to doubt you, boss, but... some of us here aren't exactly trustworthy."

Jubilee nodded in agreement, folding her arms. "I second that. You sure about letting them in?"

"Now now," Aiden said with a raised hand and a faint smirk. "I've been told—by some reliable sources, mind you—that Emma and Mystique have turned over a new leaf." He turned to the two women. "Isn't that right, girls?"

Emma spoke first, her voice smooth but clearly rehearsed. "My partnership with Erik was strictly business. I've always supported mutant rights. Perhaps... our approach was extreme. But at the time, I believed it was the only viable solution to protect our kind."

Aiden raised a brow and leaned slightly forward. "Let's hope you don't repeat that mistake again, darling. 'Cause next time... I'll eat you."

The words were soft. Not a shout, not a threat barked with bravado—but it sent a chill through the room. Emma's confident posture faltered. She swallowed and gave a slow nod. "Of course."

"And what about her?" Jubilee said, tilting her chin toward Mystique, voice laced with suspicion.

Mystique tensed. Her eyes flicked around the room, briefly landing on Wanda, almost pleading for backup.

"No, no, no," Aiden said before she could speak, waving a finger in the air. "Don't look at her. Look at me. Why are you here?"

The shape-shifter hesitated, then slowly lowered her eyes. Her voice was subdued. "I just want to help. I want mutants to feel safe, to feel welcomed... I want to protect them."

She paused, turning slightly toward Rogue—there was guilt in her eyes. "I'm sorry for what happened back then. I truly am. I was convinced the world would never accept us... so I followed Erik. I believed war was the only answer. But I was wrong."

Her voice quivered for a second, but she steadied it. "I recognize my mistakes. And I hope... by working for you, Aiden, I can make up for what I've done."

Aiden nodded slowly, watching her the entire time. There was no arrogance in his gaze. Just the calm, discerning presence of someone who had seen the worst in people—and knew how to pull the best from them.

"Good," he said simply. "See? Not that hard, right? I like honesty."

There was a brief silence. A charged pause where everyone processed the sincerity—or at least the attempt—of Mystique's words. The room was still tense, but something had shifted. The walls weren't down yet, but maybe—just maybe—they weren't as high.

Aiden stood firm at the head of the room, eyes sharp, presence undeniable as he laid everything bare. His tone was steel wrapped in fire—no room for misinterpretation.

"Okay, now that you all know what we're here for, let me start by saying this—this will be my team. That means no 'we all lead' democracy crap, no vote tables, no long debates. Your opinions? You can speak 'em—but they don't carry the same weight as mine. If that bothers you, there's the door."

He paused, scanning the room. No one moved.

"Second—this ain't just a superhero team. We are not the Fantastic Four. We are not the Avengers. We don't get tangled in international red tape, begging for permission to punch the next alien threat. And we sure as hell aren't the X-Men. We're not here just to babysit troubled mutants or fight public opinion."

He took a breath and leaned in, voice lowering but somehow hitting harder.

"Our goals are simple—but perfect. One—we help people, but we build an empire doing it. Using every one of your unique skills—tech, magic, intelligence, strategy—we'll create a business that rivals Stark Industries. We're talking a money-generating juggernaut that lets us fund ourselves, protect mutants, and still build our own damn future."

A few eyes widened—Valeria smirked knowingly. Gwen looked intrigued. Emma Frost sat a little straighter.

"Two—we don't work alone. Ever. Minimum of three per team, no exceptions—except for me. I've got things to handle alone."

"And finally—Knull. That's the real target. I don't know when. I don't know how. But that thing... he's coming. For me, for Earth. And I'll be damned if I let my body or this world fall to some ancient god of darkness."

The room was dead silent. The weight of his words settled in like gravity had doubled.

Then he softened just a little. "Alright. Anyone have questions? Ideas? Something to add?"

People glanced at one another. Then, with a slight shrug, Kitty raised her hand. "Sooo like… what are we gonna call ourselves?"

Aiden blinked, then looked thoughtful. "Oh? A name… huh. I don't know. Should we have a name?"

Before he could finish, Jubilee practically bounced in her seat. "Let's call ourselves DRAGON KNIGHTS! Because you're like this all-powerful dragon god, and we're your badass knights!"

The room burst into laughter. Even the stoic ones cracked a smile—Bobby let out a snort, Noriko leaned on the table wheezing, and even Pietro shook his head in amusement.

Aiden just chuckled. "Dragon Knights, huh? Sounds a little dramatic…"

Jubilee grinned wide. "Yeah, and? You are dramatic."

Valeria wiped a smudge of grease off her cheek, raising an eyebrow. "It's better than 'Aiden's Little Helpers,' I'll give you that."

Mystique, surprisingly, cracked a wry smile. "Could've been worse."

Emma rolled her eyes, sipping from her crystal glass. "Let's just make sure whatever name we choose doesn't sound like a Saturday morning cartoon."

Aiden raised a hand. "Alright, alright. Forget about the name for now, We'll get a better one soon, for now, let's talk about our first mission"
