Chapter 357 - Chapter 357: Humanity is the Protagonist, But That Role is Not Irreplaceable! (Bonus Chapter 8)

God-King!

This is the realm that countless gods aspire to, a level they yearn for.

For the gods, they are willing to exhaust endless effort and even their eternal lives in the pursuit of becoming a God-King.

Take Mephistopheles as an example. For him, becoming a God-King was like an obsession. As long as he could reach that realm, nothing else mattered.

Such is the allure that the status of God-King holds for the gods. To say the least, it's an overwhelming desire.

God-King!

God-King!

For the gods, this status represents the ultimate pinnacle of their aspirations.

And Prometheus had the potential to step into this realm. He held the responsibility of bringing fire to humanity and teaching them wisdom.

These duties belonged solely to Prometheus, and because of that, he had the qualifications to become a God-King. In the original story, Zeus punished Prometheus but did not kill him. Why?

The reason lies in this: Prometheus could not die. For a tyrant like Zeus, the emergence of a new God-King was something he could never allow.

Thus came the punishment.

In fact!

From the fact that Zeus never reclaimed the fire, it's evident that giving fire to humanity was not the issue. In fact, it was inevitable and not something Zeus could refuse.

However.

By doing so, Prometheus would become a God-King, giving Zeus a reason—an excuse—to punish him. And for Zeus, that was reason enough. Everything else was, in a sense, irrelevant.

Zeus didn't care about the rest. What he focused on was preventing any force that could challenge his authority from emerging. And a god like Prometheus, with the qualifications—or more accurately, the certainty—to become a God-King, was something Zeus would never allow.

It might sound absurd.

But!

That's the reality, the nature of Zeus.

However...

At this moment, it was still too early. The moment the divine power emerged on the surface world, ordinary gods couldn't sense it. But for the three God-Kings and the higher-level Ancient Gods, the situation was completely different.

They could feel this unique divine power.

In an instant.

The Underworld.

Hades slowly opened his eyes and softly murmured, "How interesting. That one truly intends for the giants to completely replace humanity."

"Husband?"

Persephone, sensing her husband's movements and hearing his quiet murmurs, looked at him in shock. She knew exactly what this meant.

But!

Persephone could hardly believe it. Humanity was the protagonist of the Mythological World, a role determined by the world's laws. In theory.

Even the Absolute God of Chaos who created the Mythological World couldn't change that. And yet, the Earth Goddess intended to alter it?

How could that be possible?

Persephone couldn't believe it. No matter how one looked at it, this was impossible!

Hades, seeing the shock on his wife's face, calmly explained, "In some ways, it does seem impossible. But it's something that could indeed happen."

"The Ancient Era was a time of creation."

"The Golden Era was a time of succession for the gods."

"The Silver Era is the time when humanity emerged."

"But."

"During the Silver Era, many races also fought for dominance. In this special era, while humanity is the protagonist, they are not the absolute protagonist. In other words, the protagonist can be replaced."

"This…"

Hades' explanation was very clear, but the clearer it was, the more shocking it became. It was almost unimaginable!

How could this be possible?

How could the designated protagonist of the Mythological World truly be replaced?

However, it's not an entirely impossible matter.

This situation is akin to the cyclical rise and fall of dynasties in another mythological world. Under the calculations of powerful beings, the era of the witches and demons ended, and humanity became the central force.

But what if the witches and demons had won?

Wouldn't humanity have completely failed?

The war between Emperor Xuanyuan and Chiyou was similar, as was the conflict between Liu Bang and Xiang Yu, or Wang Mang and Liu Xiu, the Three Kingdoms, and so on.

In every era, there are struggles for supremacy. Some are destined to be the protagonists, but are they always guaranteed to win? It might seem that way, but sometimes, it's not the case, especially when there are more powerful forces supporting the opposition.

In that case...

Things become unpredictable. This is the true core of the issue. Some things, if not handled carefully, can indeed result in the protagonist being replaced.

In the battle between Emperor Xuanyuan and Chiyou, it was the combined efforts of many forces that barely allowed Xuanyuan to defeat Chiyou. And this was just part of the core conflict.

As for the deeper struggles, they were unspeakable. The intricacies were so complex that it's not an exaggeration to say they are beyond comprehension.

What Hades was saying followed this same logic. If the Titan giants had the Earth Goddess supporting them from behind...

In the end, could the Titans not replace humanity as the central force of the world? That's hard to say! Maybe they would fully take over, or perhaps they would fail. But who could say for sure?

Precisely because of this.

When faced with such a question, the outcome could truly change.

In the past, no matter how turbulent the events of the Silver Era were, the ending was always predetermined. But now, things were different. If events continued to unfold this way...

The conclusion of the Silver Era could change, and if that truly happened, then everything might become unpredictable.

"…"

Persephone fell into silence. This matter had completely exceeded her expectations. It was even more shocking than exploring the other Mythological Worlds.

"Husband…"

Persephone seemed to want to say something after pondering for a while.
