Ye Qiao lifted her face from the porridge bowl and met Ji Mo's gaze across from her.
Their eyes locked, and her heartbeat suddenly accelerated.

She quickly lowered her head to inspect herself, ensuring only one button was undone and not revealing anything. Her tongue swept across her lips to check for any grains of rice, and then Ye Qiao cleared her throat.
"Is there something on my face?"
Ji Mo didn't answer, continuing to stare directly at her.
Ye Qiao narrowed her eyes and quickly noticed something unusual. It seemed as though he was looking at her, but not really seeing her, as if his gaze was passing through her to something else.
Feeling a bit uneasy under his stare, Ye Qiao waved her hand in front of his face.
"Ji Mo?!"
"Ah!"
Ji Mo snapped back to reality, aware of his lapse, and took up his bowl of porridge to drink.
"Are you feeling unwell?"
"No." Ji Mo shook his head, "Just... thinking about something."
