Death was a… unique experience.
I have come in contact with many forms of death both in my previous life and in this one. But this was the second time I was rendered completely useless during the moment it came upon me.
The first was my natural death in the previous world. Due to practicing Lifebound Arts without healing magic, I destroyed my body to the point moving was a miracle. When I finally succumbed after twenty long years, it was slow and painful. And the worst part was that I could only just accept it.
I don't have any PTSD from that – I overcame it a long time ago. But the death that Lucas gave to me was terrifying. And unique.
When a person dies, their consciousness slowly dissipates and their soul returns to the cycle of reincarnation. However, I had already been through two reincarnations and with the added benefit of being strong, it took some time for me to die. During that period of time, I was stuck in 'transit'.
