The towering palace shimmered faintly with a golden radiance beneath the halo of the Spirit Realm. It stood at the pinnacle of the entire realm—a sacred place that governed all affairs within the Spirit Realm.
This was the seat of the Spirit Realm Committee, the ruling body responsible for judging gods, managing divine order, and upholding the laws of the Spirit Realm.
The main hall of the palace was octagonal in design. Its walls were undecorated, yet they flashed with countless shifting scenes. Each image represented a different world on a distant planet within the human realm. These ever-changing screens were the Spirit Realm Committee's way of monitoring the various planes in this star field.
At the center of the hall stood a large round table. Its surface was made of a mysterious material that seemed to swirl with endless clouds, deep and boundless.
Three individuals sat beside the table, with roughly thirty to forty more seated behind them.
They were all gods.
Originally, the Spirit Realm Committee consisted of thirty-two first-level gods, two hundred and sixteen second-level gods, one thousand eight hundred and forty-seven third-level gods, and tens of thousands of priests and hunters.
The Committee governed 108 planes. Among them, Douluo Continent, the Five Elements Continent, the Xuantian Continent, the Vast Continent, the Skyward Continent, and the Divine Continent were classified as high-energy worlds.
Because Tang San inherited the position of the Asura God… because the God of Destruction and the God of Evil left… and because of the Golden Dragon King's retaliation, only these few gods remained in the Spirit Realm Committee.
To this day, Ye Feng still didn't know what exactly Tang San had promised the God of Destruction and the God of Evil to make the two supreme gods abandon the Committee.
Ye Feng's gaze shifted to the two women seated alongside him.
On his right sat the Goddess of Kindness.
She wore a white robe, her long fiery red hair cascading down her back. Her features were gentle and breathtakingly beautiful, radiating an aura of unmatched purity.
To his left sat the Goddess of Life.
Dressed in a flowing, aqua-green gown infused with the essence of life, she carried a faint, everlasting smile. Though her beauty wasn't as striking as the woman opposite her, the golden glow around her and the vibrant life aura she exuded made her unforgettable and approachable.
"Goddess of Life," Ye Feng asked curiously, "what did Tang San promise the God of Destruction to make him turn his back on the Committee?"
"The God of Destruction didn't betray the Spirit Realm Committee. He simply wanted to expand the Spirit Realm," she replied calmly.
"So, Tang San agreed to the expansion?"
"Yes." She nodded.
In the original timeline, the God of Destruction had tried to expand the Spirit Realm by force, even going so far as to battle Tang San and trick him into handing over the Spirit Realm's core.
But something went wrong.
Expanding the Spirit Realm required tapping into its very origin…
After the Asura God successfully expanded the Spirit Realm tenfold, the realm was struck by a spatial-temporal storm. Many gods were sucked into the chaos, and the realm suffered a devastating blow.
In the end, it was the Goddess of Life and the God of Destruction who sacrificed their origin power to save the Spirit Realm.
As for Tang San, he could have stopped it all. Instead, he chose to do nothing, letting the disaster unfold—perhaps even welcoming it. Based on Ye Feng's understanding, Tang San saw this as an opportunity to eliminate the God of Destruction, who opposed him.
Everything the God of Destruction had done… had likely been within Tang San's calculations from the start.
Tang San had led the Spirit Realm for a long time. There was no way he didn't foresee the catastrophe. It had happened in history before. With Tang San's intelligence, he wouldn't have missed that.
Ye Feng turned his attention to the Goddess of Kindness.
"Then why did the God of Evil leave the Committee?" he asked.
From what Ye Feng knew of him, the God of Evil had never shown interest in expanding the Spirit Realm.
"I… I don't know," the Goddess of Kindness replied.
"You're his wife. How could you not know?"
"I really don't. He never shares or discusses his decisions with me. He always follows his own will."
Her eyes didn't waver—she was telling the truth.
Ye Feng couldn't help but wonder what Tang San had said to convince the God of Evil to leave the Committee. Still, he pressed forward. "Then tell me, both of you—what do you plan to do now?"
"What do you think we should do?" the Goddess of Kindness asked.
"For the sake of the Spirit Realm's future, we must kill Tang San. No matter the cost," Ye Feng said bluntly.
"Why do you want to kill Tang San?" the Goddess of Kindness asked, her voice soft but firm.
"He's the Asura God. A member of the Committee. Why would you kill him?" the Goddess of Life added.
"You don't understand him," Ye Feng said with a heavy sigh.
Tang San of the past would at least pretend to be virtuous. Now, all he had left was vengeance. From what Ye Feng knew of him, he probably wouldn't even bother pretending anymore.
"In short, Tang San must die," Ye Feng declared.
"I object," the Goddess of Life said without hesitation.
"I object too," the Goddess of Kindness echoed.
"What if I insist?" Ye Feng challenged.
"Then I will step aside," said the Goddess of Life. "I won't take sides."
"I'll do the same," said the Goddess of Kindness. "Forgive me for being blunt, but this is your personal grudge. Please don't drag the Spirit Realm Committee into it."
"Report!"
Just then, a divine official rushed into the hall.
"What is it?" Ye Feng asked.
"The Golden Dragon King is dead."
"What?!"
"What?!"
Both the Goddess of Kindness and the Goddess of Life stood up, stunned.
"She inherited the Dragon God's powerful body! How could she die?! Who killed her?"
"It was the Asura God. Dragon God. Tang San," the official said. "The Golden Dragon King returned heavily injured. Tang San… devoured her."
The two goddesses' expressions darkened.
"You see?" Ye Feng said, voice low but resolute. "That's the real Tang San. Even if she was the Dragon God, he killed her without hesitation. If we let him rule the Spirit Realm, what kind of future would we have?"
The two goddesses exchanged glances, a silent understanding forming between them.
"I've said it before," the Goddess of Kindness said quietly. "This is your feud. My husband is in the other camp, but I won't help him… and I won't help you either. I'll remain neutral."
"Agreed," said the Goddess of Life. "I support her decision."
