Allicent had learnt about the ongoing battle minutes after Gabriel had left. When she walked into the rampants, she found out that Gabriel had joined the war but was nowhere to be seen when the humans started retreating.
And just when she spotted him in the battlefield, her heart sunk when she saw a hoarde of vampires surrounding him. Her motherly instincts overcame her before she teleported where he was, ready to take him as far away as she could. But someone had outsmarted her, someone more powerful than her!
She teleported back to the palace, now pacing back and forth as a thousand possibilities crossed her mind. The fact that he'd asked her to take him to the underworld recently threw her into a frenzy. Did he really know what awaited him there?
The thought of it scared her to the bone. Unable to contain her fear any longer, she summoned the gates of the underworld, a decision she would later regret.
