Chapter 19 - 18.

The names that Professor Anara first called out were one from the commoners and one from the nobles, they were both men, with one using a combination of sword and shield while the other from the commoners only used a medium sized spear.

The noble man has quite good fighting techniques, as can be seen from how he can maximize the weapons he uses with great confidence. In stark contrast to the common man, he was just holding on carelessly, being toyed with, his face was very panicked and looked scared, even his hand which was used to hold the spear seemed to be shaking.

The fight only ended in absolute victory for the noble man. Even after his opponent said he would surrender, he continued to launch continuous attacks on the poor common man without stopping. Until finally Professor Anara had to intervene to stop it.

"Stop your attack! The opponent has surrendered, you don't need to do anything you don't need to do! Quickly return to your place!" Professor Anara said firmly to the noble man while she praised the commoner who had fallen limp on the ground. "You may admit to giving up, but at least you have fought well enough. I also applaud you for having the courage to face your fears. Improve your skills and continue to hone them, you have a good enough foundation to become a knight."

The next fight was again called by one of the names of the commoners and nobles, this time it was a fight between women and girls. However, as expected, this fight again ended in a one-sided battle between the nobility and the commoners again declared their surrender.

The subsequent battles also for some reason consistently become battles between commoners and nobles, the only difference is that sometimes these battles sometimes become battles between women and men, not necessarily of the same gender. I understand a little why Professor Anara did that because in real combat, sometimes we have to face opponents of different genders. Where we have to get used to the physical differences between men and women.

But what I don't understand is why this fight is always a fight between the nobles and the commoners? I don't understand why the Professor did this. Did she want to show the difference in abilities between commoners and nobles?

Some people from the commoners ultimately chose to refuse to fight against the nobility, because fight after fight always ended with one side winning for the nobility. They realized that the abilities they had would not be able to fight against those from noble families.

"Steve is fighting Yelena. The name called please immediately go to the middle of the field. If any of you want to refuse this fight, say so immediately!"

Steve, assisted by his wheelchair, walked to the middle of the field very confidently. He holds a sword in his right hand and an ax in his left hand. He actually used the techniques of the Northerners he emulated.

I curiously wondered, how would he use Northerner techniques with his body like that? and to change everyone's negative view, a chunk of ice came out at the tip of his lower body. The pieces of ice became support so he could get up, instead of his missing legs.

When everyone was sure that this fight would end the same as the previous fights. How surprised we all were to see that Steve could put up such a good fight, even though with his body like that, Steve could fight as ferociously as a Northerner.

He swung his sword and ax easily, his ice feet moving right and left very quickly. The nobleman looked very difficult to continue to withstand attack after attack launched by Steve, there was not the slightest chance for him to launch a counterattack until finally the shield in his hand was blown away by a powerful slash from Steve.

Now was the perfect moment for Steve to end the fight.

"Damn, I know he has a reason to win. But that only applies to him," David grumbled angrily.

Steve was about to throw his axe, but unfortunately the ice that was supporting him suddenly shattered and made him miss the moment. It seems he didn't predict that this very hot weather would weaken the ice. Therefore, without missing an opportunity, the nobleman immediately launched a counterattack, filled with emotion the nobleman attacked Steve blindly.

Steve, who was already helpless, tried to survive, but this fight ended in an absolute victory for the noble. Not caring about Steve's condition, the nobleman launched a very powerful final attack, a very strong wind slash left Steve covered in terrible wounds and made him even more helpless.

"You should realize where you are. The barbarian's fighting style is very suitable for a weakling like you," said the nobleman.

This time it was my turn to be called by Professor Anara. Holding my sword and shield tightly, I walked to the middle of the field at the same time as a noble man who seemed to be grinning at me.

"Professor, aren't there any stronger opponents? I don't want to fight weak people like them," he said. "Even the guy with barbaric techniques like the cripple before, no one can beat me."

Daniel took a deep breath, "You'd better just give up from now on, I don't want to waste time fighting weak people like you!" he said warning me.

"How can you know I'm weak, this fight hasn't even started yet?"

"Even without fighting, I already know that you are just a weakling." The nobles could be heard mocking Steve and the fighting techniques of the Northerners, which they thought were the techniques of people of low intelligence. "Moreover, the Northerners' fighting techniques are very weak."

Not saying anything, I turned my body and walked to where the pile of various weapons were, not listening to Professor Anara who called me repeatedly to immediately return to the middle of the field or she would disqualify me for running away from the fight. Professor Anara also said that running away from a fight was the same as surrendering, and as a knight he said that running away from a fight was a very cowardly act.

Maybe for Professor Anara saying the word surrender was better, because it meant that as a knight I knew the limits of my abilities, instead of running away without saying a word.

But I just threw away my shield and took out an ax with one sharp edge which I held tightly in my left hand. I walked back to the middle of the field while saying. "The reward for dying in battle is heaven." The sentence I quoted from Einar.

Would you not accept it if I said that the Northerners' fighting techniques were weak? just because of that? After all, the reward for death is heaven? Those who die in battle are just weaklings!" he said with a grin. "You'll only end up the same as that crippled man!"

My sword attack was easily blocked by him using his shield, then my ax attack was also blocked very easily using the sword in his left hand. I admit that he does have better physical abilities and fighting techniques than me, but it's just that, many people are a bit wrong about the Northerners' fighting techniques. Einar told me that the Northerners' technique relies not only on physical strength or technique, but on wildness in battle.

The only drawback of Northern fighting techniques is that it depends on how strong the user's physical endurance is.

I raised my sword as high as possible then swung it vertically. The attack was still easily blocked by the shield, but it didn't stop there I also attacked again with my ax and continued to attack alternately. Not allowing my opponent to counterattack, I continued to attack him, attack and continue to attack, my hand did not stop swinging until I found an opening when my opponent raised his shield too high, I threw the shield from below using my ax and without wasting the opportunity of the opponent's situation which was still off guard I also smashed the sword in his hand with my sword. And the fight ended when both of my weapons were tucked away on either side of his neck.
