Chapter 15 - Chap 15:

Knock knock.

"Ugh, Selone, didn't I tell you I would let you know if I needed you?" I said, walking to the door, annoyed.

"It's not selone. It is your lovely sister," Sara said from the other side of the door.

"Tsk, even worse," I mumbled, turning back to the new table that I made under my bed.

'It's still a surprise how much different sort of hardware the demons have and how much I actually lag behind them.' I thought, looking at all the cool trinkets in the room.

Slam!!

"Hey, Ren, why didn't you open it for me?" Sara whined, disheartened after slamming the door open.

"Sigh, at least it wasn't little Ren this time," I mumbled, ignoring the Lina look-alike just staring at the dozens of 1-liter tubs of ice cream on a tray.

"Hey, Ren, I brought ice cream with me. I didn't know what sort you would like, so I brought every flavor we had in the kitchen." Sara explained, trying to show me all the flavors there were.

"…"

"Where should we eat? Wow, this place looks so good. You did all this in one morning? You're awesome, Ren." Sara said, smiling like a kid in a toy store.

"…"

"Huh? Why are you… Oh, someone seems to like ice cream. Hehe." Julia said, laughing, turning away the tray out of view.

"Wait, what?" I said, snapping out of my staring contest with the tubs of ice cream.

"Where do you want to dig in?" Julia said, gesturing towards the ice cream on the tray still in her hands.

"Hmm, how about the roof?" I said, pointing upwards.

"… and how should I get up there?" Julia said, looking at me deadpan.

"Easy," I said, smiling before appearing behind her. Putting my hand on her back, we both appeared on top of the castle roof, overseeing the entire capital.

"Kyaa!" Sara yelped in surprise, jumping into my arms. Surprisingly, she didn't let go of the tray of ice cream.

"Oi, I know you are a princess and all, but I am not carrying you as one," I said, dropping her on the rooftop and taking the tray away from her in the process, making sure she didn't drop it.

"Ugh, please warn me next time." She said, standing up and glaring at me.

"Don't just jump into people's arms next time," I said, taking a vanilla-flavored-looking ice cream tub from the tray.

"Fine, next time, I won't jump into your arms," Sara said, looking away, dissatisfied.

"That would be appreciated. Thank you. Now sit before you fall off." I said, sitting at the roof's edge while eating the ice cream. "Mhm, this ice cream is great, way better than Earth."

"I thought humans would have been better at cooking and things like that," Sara said, sitting next to me.

"Nah, I read that most knowledge got lost after the third world war started, the cold war, and now the interdimensional war. Thinking about it, humans have been at war for more than 40 years." I said, not stopping my licking.

"No wonder some knowledge got lost after that much time," Sara said, nodding.

"Uh, they were quite dumb not to try and save it," I said with much venom.

"Well, humans are a bit dumb, I suppose. Oh, by the way, seeing as you are talking like that about humans and all, have you decided to move on?"

"Huh…? Wait, what?"

"Oh, sorry, I should clarify it a bit. My mother told me about some of your past. Well, just about your true identity and why they adopted you and all."

"Ah, uh, so you know I was? Is? Human?" I said, not sounding very sure about my race.

"I think it was." Now you are a half-demon, after all. And half-demons are classified as demons by the humans and us."

"But I still have human DNA, so I am also half-human," I said, not wanting to look at her.

"Uuuh, I don't really know about that. What I heard happened to you in the last month and the random things Mother Leah gave you, I think it's more like half-demon. The other half is like a tenth of everything."

"… I really need to bite her when she comes back," I said, grunting.

"My mother is innocent, thank you very much."

"I meant Leah. Lina can just shadow and walk away from me if she wants to. It's cool." I said, nodding.

"Good luck with that, then. You already know about mothers powers?" Sara said, a bit surprised.

"Yeah, she came onto the roof last night," I said, pointing behind me where she came from last night.

"I see. That's probably why she told me you might be depressed today or something."

"Depressed? I guess I am." I said, tilting my head.

"Well, you are eating the ice cream like there is no tomorrow, and I was always told women eat a lot of sweet things when they are depressed."

"Where did you hear something like that from?" I asked, confused.

"From a human captive we had a few years back. Don't worry. We didn't kill her. She was a civilian who got lost in our territory on Earth. She wasn't actually a captive, actually." Sara said, holding her chin and thinking.

"Got lost? I didn't think something like that would have been possible." I said, surprised.

"I agree, but she was pregnant and just lost her husband to some human bandits."

"Uh, bandits?"

"You know, the people that are outlaws and kill for money."

"You mean criminals. Humans call them criminals." I said, not thinking much of it.

"Tch, same thing, and you did it again."

"Uh, it seems quite confusing," I said, holding my head in confusion.

"I would imagine. Oh, right, I heard when you woke up yesterday that you threw some of the servants around like dolls. Is that true?" Sara asked hesitantly.

"Hmm, I guess I shoved them out of the way as I wanted to beat Leah up for changing me into a child."

"Not a demon, huh? You really are moving on. I see, so you kept your strength from your full-grown body?" Sara said, saying the first part inaudibly.

"No, I am definitely weak strength-wise, but when it comes to my powers, they got a giant boost. Well, not enough to teleport back to Earth, though." I said, flexing my hand.

"You want to go back?" Sara asked, quite surprised.

"… no, I guess I also want to start over with life," I said, shaking my head.

"Yeah, that's great to hear," Sara said energetically.

"However, it is going to take time to do that."

"Mostly because of your significant other, I presume," Sara said, nodding in understanding.

"Uh, I took out the heart monitor last night and destroyed it. That should make her move on. Hopefully, she gets someone that will stay with her forever."

"You never know. Also, you will be going back to Earth someday. What will you do if you meet her?"

"That I don't know. I think she will kill me if she finds out I am still alive and faked my death.

"Fake your death? I guess that is kind of faking it. Well, not really, but we will roll with it."

"Yeah, let's just take it as that, haha. It's not like anyone on earth thought I would still be alive."

"… I don't know how to respond to that."

"Hmm, why? Is it because I am making it sound like demons are vicious creatures?

"Kind of…"

"Hmm, well, it's not that I mean it like that, but you guys could have wiped us out if you wanted to, you know," I said, raising an eyebrow at her.

"True, we could have, but you met Dad," Sara said, shrugging.

"You, he isn't like that luckily. That personality of his probably got him in a lot of trouble."

"Yeah, we got a lot of suppression thanks to his passive approach to the war."

"Well, I wouldn't have been alive or ever born if he didn't."

"I guess that's true."

"Oh, but the suppression of the other factions bothers you that much."

"Ugh, it's not to say it bothered us; it's more of what the other guys said about our family that bothered us. That's also why we so hate Hendrian."

"Hmm, who's that?" I asked with a spoon in my mouth and a raised eyebrow at the weird name.

"He is the second oldest, well, third oldest now, of all the siblings. He was like a month older than the witch sister." Sara explained, making me nod.

"Hmm, I see, so why do you guys hate him so much?"

"Because after the death of his mother, he changed, and not for the better. Which sister also changed, but she didn't turn her back on her family. All she became is a training maniac who loves fights. Actually, she was always like that, but her mother could control her. Mother and Mother Leah can't do that at all, and Dad. He is useless when it comes to something like this." Sara explained, ranting off on her own.

"I see, so I guess he left the royal family?"

"Haha, no, that guy will never give up the comfortable life he has right now. He is still in the palace; we just don't know where. Dad probably knows."

"I see, so what does he do in life if he still stays in the palace?"

"He starts shit. That's all. Every time our parents go away, he starts some shit up."

"Oh, so in other words, this week, he is going to make a commotion."

"Yeah, but we are already prepared for that. Lucas and Karl are staying with each other, and my twin brother and Julia are together right now."

"Hmm, okay, and with whom will you be?"

"Well, you, of course. Suppose you are outside your room, of course. If not, I am with my twin brother and Julia."

"Hmm, I see. At least it is only a week," I said.

"Yeah, normally they take Karl with them as he is the youngest and the weakest out of all of us, so we made Lucas take care of him."

"Oh, that reminds me, who is the strongest out of all of you?"

"Which sister, without a doubt."

"Then how does it follow afterwards?"

"Then it's me, Lucas Julia, and my twin brother. Lastly, Karl. I don't count Hendrian."

"Hmm, if you are the second strongest, why are you pairing up with me?"

"Because I know the most about you, and you don't know how our society works completely."

"I guess that's valid."

"Anyways, do you feel any better?"

"Haha, I guess I am feeling better. I kind of forgot about all the problems I have," I said, shaking my head and smiling, satisfied.

"That's good—" Sara said before being interrupted by an explosion in the distance.

Boom.
