"It's my birthday?" He muttered under his breath with wide eyes.
"Yeah, 3 April."
A deep chuckle left his lips. "That's today? I totally forgot about it. Thanks," he leaned forward to give her a kiss on her lips.
Alexandra reached out to grab the box on the table, handing it over to him with a lopsided grin etched onto her face. "Open it," she demanded as she looked at him intently, excited to know how he would react upon opening it.
"What is it" He asked, a smile carved into his lips. Slowly, he pulled off the cover, opening the box carefully to reveal a watch. A hint of recognition and realisation flashed in his dark eyes and memories from the past came flooding his mind all at once, bringing him back to the times when he was only a teen.
It was more than 8 years ago, when they were barely 18. They had walked past one of those old school jewelry shops along the busy streets. Apart from the usual necklaces, rings and earrings, tucked away in a small corner were the watches.
