Zhane supported Hera as she held his hand. Hera reached out toward Leo, but her hand trembled—she was afraid to touch him. Gently, Zhane guided her hand to Leo's chest. Hera flinched at first, but when she felt the slow rise and fall of his breathing, she broke into sobs again.
His chest was still as firm and strong as she remembered, but his skin felt colder than before—not the warm comfort she used to know. Maybe it was the illness, or the severe blood loss he had suffered. His body was clearly still weak and struggling to recover.
His condition hadn't improved much since the day he was brought in. It had already been days, and while Terry and the others had been moved to regular rooms, Leo remained in the ICU—his life still hanging in the balance.
