Nothing could change the fact that she did not like that look on Gamma Rhett's face as he questioned Liam. The boy was just a kid, for Pete's sake!
Yeah, he made a mistake not disclosing his encounter with the fairy but he was probably too scared to talk about it. Not after losing his older brother and only family like that.
She made sure to offer Liam a comforting hand as he relayed his experience.
"It was afar but I heard it. Faintly and it disappeared just as it came but not enough for me to not catch, all thanks to my awakening inner wolf." Liam looked down and my heart reached out to him.
The poor boy.
I squeezed his hands gently. "Take it one step at a time."
He turned to me with a smile before continuing. "I asked the fairy if he heard it too. That's when he said he'd go check it out and told me to wait. But I… I couldn't wait. Something just wasn't right about him. My brother couldn't be in the woods, so he had no business taking me there."
