C216: Demon Lord Ascension

Mc Howdies to anyone reading. This is the last mini arc of Slime Datta Ken. we are now officially moving onto Fate. It's gonna be our last ever destination but the final final location is F/Go. I kinda wanna finish this book off so ill skip a few details here and there to move things along but I have at least one or two scenes I wanted to play on.

"It's not over yet"
"Huh?" he asks confused before his ears perk up to hear the sounds of horses, looking over, he spots the few hundred strong human horsemen approaching. The human soldiers spot the three knocked heroes, it doesnt help them that the one stepping on the heroes head looks completely human but upon spotting the two hobgoblins nearby, they capitalize on their chance.
"You foul monsters, striking down humans so blatantly, you shall be taught the light of Luminous, SAVE THE HUMANS"
"Hey Gobta, are the humans of this world really all just this stupid?"
"Huh?" Gobta's answer is only that of confusion as he moves to get Gob'zo out of the way of the incoming humans. Once he does so, he begins to run around to help the surrounding monsters which are primarily lizardmen, other goblins and orcs.
As for Axel, he is stretching and stretching his Rotator cuffs (muscles in the shoulder) in preparation for more exercise. Afterall, during this whole situation, two barriers enveloped the entire city making all the monsters feel much weaker. Well, all of them except Axel, such a low level barrier couldn't even get through the weakest form of his devouring when he had it as just [Gluttony].
"Stand aside citizen. We shall protect yo…"
"Get down from there" Axel has a lazy look as he doesnt even bother raising his head to look at the horseback seated humans.
"What?" "KYAAAHURHUR" A confused word is all that leaves the leading generals mouth before all the horses collapse as their riders fall over, only to find that each and every horse has had their heads cut off.
"Mhmm. better when your groveling like this" Axel states which gets the soldiers attention as they find that there are multiple elemental orbs floating above them all. Some give the impression of being clear but the few bits of dust and whatnot inside shows that it's wind. Others are filled with lightning or ice orbs. Axel's personal favorite in this situation is the miniature blazing sun he made that hangs the highest in the sky.
The soldiers watch in fear of the orbs as the ice one shatters first which rains down ice shards upon them all, creating a bloody scene in the plaza before the wind orc comes down right after and shreds the ice shards smaller so it's akin to needles as it stabs into all of them. lightning comes down third and electrocutes them all internally and externally. A few soldiers got cooked as a result of the ice melting and the lightning superheating the newly made water in their skin.
Many of the soldiers plead for mercy just after the first two orbs but Axel shows the human Purist knights no such thing. Afterall, if you kill, you should expect to die as well. It's a cardinal rule of law in respect to any fight or is especially so in many worlds where the law of the jungle is prominent.
And for the finale, first is the actual water orb that comes down and simply splashes all the remaining ones that survived with this water. It neutralizes the remaining leftover electricity stuck on them. They all breath a sigh of relief, some collapse on their knees but as they are about to give a prayer to Luminos, their god. They spot it. A single orb of fire that is slowly but surely coming down as they finally sense the overwhelming heat pressing down on them.
The few soldiers who arent too badly injured decide to abandon their comrades and run for their lives. They run only to collide into an invisible wall that knocks them back when they crashed into it. Slamming their armored hands over the barrier, they find that it is gradually shrinking, pushing them back towards the center where Axel and the final orb are.
The royal knights commander, Folgen, pleads with Axel, "honorable sir, I don't know why we deserve this treatment, but as fellow believers in Luminos, cant you spare us this time around?" Folgen has his hands together as he tries to give a strained smile as if the losses he is facing as well as his own impending death do not matter to him.
"I care not for your god. Especially when he is just another demon lord. But if you must know the reason for my actions. Then know that you tried to kill the one I call my 'father' and the things most precious to him. Simply embrace your own sin for trying to kill a group of individuals who sought peace with all as they attempted to make their lives easier. It is your own greed that has led you to this point, not some fake god." He states with a glare to stare down each and every living soldier.
"Also it's my birthday, might as well have a slaughter since you so kindly showed yourself." he declares as his body begins to melt once more and becomes that of a starry colored slime.
The revelation that their barrier had not affected the monster before him hits Folgen hard. Even more so than the pain he is going through right now. His sole consolation is the fact that their path was truly righteous as the monster before him encapsulates the pinnacle of what a monstrosity and evil is.
"You only prove us right, monster. The world shall know of your power and shall shun you until nothing but ashes remain. Hail Lord Luminos!!" Folgen then takes his sword and charges at Axel who remakes human form again for convenience.
SLASH
Folgen's sword horizontally bisected him, shoulder to waist but what is unique about this, is that just millimeters away from the sword properly touching the slime, it itself splits in half and then rejoins as the sword passes. This gives the impression that the sword didn't even do anything.
"The Victor shall be remembered in history while the lower shall fade into Obscurity. And you gentlemen, have lost" Axel has achieved his result and begins to walk out of the spatial dome while the soldiers take up arms to attack the barrier he set up to isolate his annoyance. Their actions prove fruitless until the false sun descends upon them and bestows the sweetest blessing, Death.
Shion and the others step forward as Axel comes out. They could not actually see inside the barrier so they don't know all that happened to the humans inside. At the same time they arrive so does Peka. Just as they are about to question him for his crime of ignoring 'Lord' Rimurus words of not harming humans, does Axel speak to Peka.
"What solution have your thoughts led you to?" He says with curiosity as the hobgoblin girl kneels before him, clipboard in hand.
"Ahem, I have come up with multiple viable solutions which could assist Rimuru-sama into personally choosing to become a Demon Lord to face any future problems related to the nation of Jura Tempest." The Kijin are confused by the secretary's words and choose to hold their tongues for a moment to see the situation.
"And of those three, which do you think I would choose?"
"Of the 20 solutions i've created, only three result in no deaths." The Kijin's blood stills as they process the information that Axel might be willing to kill inhabitants of the city to ensure the birth of a new demon lord.
"How…" Shion is about to speak up, Benimaru summoning his oni flames and Hakurou taking out his sword only for all of them to freeze in place. They find that similar to Souei's techniques, they have been wrapped in some sort of invisible thread yet even Souei seems surprised by all this as he cant seem to get out of the threads.
"Not really an answer to my question but that is good to know. Tell me one anyways, I'm interested."
The Kijin are stuck in place as they are helpless to find out that a few of them along with a larger number of both hobgoblin and orc numbers would be placed under a soul stasis. Essentially, their souls would be extracted from their bodies while ensuring the actual bodies stay safe and healthy but the souls themselves would be sealed away in a capsule that would require Rimuru to acquire a certain level of strength to break open.
Axel himself became ever increasingly interested as he realizes that Peka has gained soul related abilities from him which is how she came up with this idea. He and [Raphael] came up with plausible problems to hinder Rimuru from using his [Great Sage] from simply undoing it all.
After realizing the complexity of the task, Axel looks to Peka who is still kneeling next to him. She has tears running down her face at what she considers a betrayal to her people. "Rise" Axel tells her and she does. The Kijin now sees her tears and can tell that she is unwilling…in some part.
The truth of her tears is not that she is close to the Kijin and saddened by their pseudo-death but that she has to abandon her twin to this land and it's uncertainties…all alone as she would without a doubt be exiled for siding with Axel and even proposing this idea to him. As she has fulfilled her first direct task from Axel, she experiences a significant boost in her power, both magicules, mana and bits of laws. The most intriguing part of this boost is that now there is a more viable link between her and Axel. Allowing him to read her mind, or at least fragments of it which [Raphael] deciphers for him.
"Peka, I accept the proposal you gave, such a thing also deserves a reward. From this day forth, you shall be known as Luna" His words create a strong flow of energy between the two as Peka's name is rewritten by a flow of energy higher than the original name giver provided. Her new evolution will take some time and will likely have her undergo new racial changes until pretty much nothing remains of her old hobgoblin state. The Kijin also feel the full depth of Axels Magicules which is all that he has gained ever since he had arrived on this world. Having not killed and absorbed a single creature since his arrival.
Now dubbed Luna, the hobgoblin bows to the Kijin as an apology for any suffering they experience until they wake up and then leaves. She has to give her goodbyes to her family. In the meantime, Axel takes down the spatial dome, showcasing the level of destruction left behind that melted the pristine bricked ground back into dirt, dust and ash thanks to the human addition added to the slurry mix left behind.
Snap.
A harmless looking snap causes some of the Kijin to slump over as they are all released. Benimaru catches Shion, Souei catches Hakurou while Shuna stands in the back, watching Axel's every move.
Axel himself holds a slim futuristic cylinder which the souls of the 2 Kijin as well as numerous other hobgoblins and orcs are all siphoned into before Axel closes the cap and begins to seal it in a certain way. He then sets the bottle down and begins to write a note but as he does, he looks at the priestess princess and asks her.
"This may be your last time to ever see me again, so might as well ask your questions" his words bring her pause before she resolutely stares him down.
"Why do you do this? No, why did you even bother with giving that engagement deal in the first place?" She asks her two pieces that genuinely confused her.
"I came to this land to repair my own skill thanks to Rimuru's help. I felt that even after giving so much, I still owed him. Seeing you and Shion squabble about for Rimuru's attention and affection was truly interesting but I quickly realized that nobody here had any interest in me even when I was helping so much, be it in terms of construction or magical help. I did it all but nobody welcomed me anywhere."
"So i'm leaving and i'm not so heartless as to leave this place completely at the whims of the demon lords and other nations. As you can see, I'm setting the stage for something that would have happened anyway at this exact time period if I had not completely intervened. Trust me, this is the safer alternative to having your friends and family actually die or be injured by these stupid humans." He settles down as he finishes speaking and sets down the note he wrote down.
Once he steps away he disappears from the town after making sure 'Luna' had said her goodbyes. About half an hour later as all the 'bodies' were collected to the town square, Rimuru arrived and finally got to read the note Axel had left for him.
['hey dad, sorry about doing this but I'm leaving and so you need to rely on yourself again. To incentivize you to grow stronger for whats to come. I sealed a few souls in that futuristic water bottle right there that Shuna might be holding onto for safekeeping. Only when you have about 8 times more magicules than you already do to open it. Great Sage won't be able to unseal it as I made countermeasures against that, you are welcome to check them yourself. ']
['Some solutions to reach the necessary strength is A: become a demon lord. B: Go consume about 5 million more magic ore stalactites like you did in Veladora's cave but you probably already cleared it out so there is only that Labyrinth place but it won't have enough. C: Devour Charybdis about 50 thousand times. Good luck.']
['PS. There is an army of 20k humans approaching the city. They believe that they were responsible for the 'deaths' of the people lying before you.']
Rimuru finishes reading the paper and clenches his fist at the betrayal of Axel but he first chooses to confirm his words and swallows the bottle.
Great Sage informs him that the seal would force activation of his own Gluttony on the souls should it open the bottle whilst inside the slimes body. Creating a situation where they can only externally open the bottle and the mana requirement is a real thing.
"How the hell do I become a demon lord? 'Fall from grace', how do I do that?" Rimuru scratches his head all over as the mercenary trio arrive and give the grand reveal that the female spell caster is actually an elf from a foreign kingdom and the duo following her are her guards. She reveals the way to become a demon lord to Rimuru and Great Sage confirms the existence of the Demon Lord seed he got from Geld (orc disaster).
Rimuru gets to work on initiating the Demon Lord Harvest Festival. Yet something else is also going on much further away.
Axel arrives at a distant land that looks like a knock off Castlevania castle. He spots the army of demonic monsters that is gathering in the courtyard of the castle. "You're sure that this many will be enough for me to undergo the ceremony as well?" He asks [Raphael] who clarifies further.
["Incorrect, these 30 thousands souls will be enough to elevate your slime body higher, a bare minimum of 120 thousand souls is needed for an overall evolution of body, mana, psychic and spiritual energies contained with you. Laws are considered external and thus can not be integrated further than they already have except through your own hard work."]
"That will do then, well let's show them how a proper Megido works" He states as Luna watches him talk to himself before she seems him gather a ton of light energy and compress it into a stick of blinding light. They then just lie in wait as the rest of the army which belongs to Demon lord Clayman.
After about a day the army expands to it's full numbers and Axel even sees Demon Lord Milim and Frey appear going into the castle. Paying them no mind, Axel focuses on the sizable army and lifts his spear.
FWOOM
The spear of light slams right into where the center of the army is. The physical force from the throw alone blasts a sizable hole and kills a handful of demons. As the rest begin to investigate Axel activates the spear which orients itself perfectly up from top to bottom as wisps of light begin to be emitted by it. Those wisps act as focal points for light based solar flares that begin to expand, further and further until the whole army is purified by light. Clayman and the others now investigate whilst keeping their distance as they all saw the light show some distance away. Yet unbeknownst to the others Milim did notice Axel some distance away as he waved her bye.
[Raphael] had already collected all the necessary souls through a mixture of barrier magic and [spirit energy]. Axel and Luna move quite the distance away before [Raphael] begins the newest evolution process.
"Good night Luna and happy birthday to me" he says and lies down.
