A class of his had just finished, and now that room was free for the next period, so instead of going back to the hostel, he decided to remain there. His friends also had the same idea so all of them were sitting there, some studying and others, like himself, were just chilling. "Hey, I feel the next one to get a girlfriend in this group will probably be you 1", one of his friends commented.
"Haha ya sure, I'm probably gonna be single for the 4 years of college" is what he wanted to reply, but for some reason, something compelled him to not say that. Yet, he went against that feeling and said it. He suddenly felt nauseous for a split second. But that feeling stopped just as fast as it had begun.
Something, at that moment just happened. Something weird. He couldn't put his finger on what exactly but it felt as if the something had just changed. Something big.
"Hey, will you ever introduce me to your sister, she is in this college too, right?" said his other friends. But he didn't have a sister, he thought to himself. He was a single child. His head suddenly started aching and memories began flooding his mind. Memories of having a sibling, a twin sister. These memories weren't his own, as he still remembered being the only son, but now, it was as if he had different memories, overlapping, and clashing with his pre-existing ones. Memories that felt foreign to him, yet he somehow remembered them well, as if they were his own from the start.
"Sure, I'll introduce you to her one day, I haven't seen her in 2 weeks", he replied. What were these words coming out of his mouth. He couldn't comprehend what happened. Why did he give that reply? He was sure he didn't have any siblings. He remained calm and acted like nothing was wrong.
Later, he decided to go to his spot near the football ground, where he likes to touch grass. As he was walking there, he saw the weirdest sights. People controlling what looked like different elements all around him.
There was someone playing with a small flame in their hand, some people gliding around as if they could control the very wind around them. This sight was one to behold! It was as if this was a fantasy world. But he was in it? How? He couldn't comprehend what happened, and as he sat down in his spot, he had another headache, much more severe than the one he had earlier. It was as if a huge batch of information surged into his mind. He was in a world where people controlling elements was the norm, and he himself could control two elements. The flame and the dark element.
He tried to call forth a small ball of each element, and somehow, he did so without much difficulty, like he had been doing this his whole life. This combination of elements was one which only he could control. He was unique, for once in his life. He, who had been an average nobody his whole life, who only knew how to write stories, finally had something going for him.
However, he could feel the new, alien memories apart from his "normal" memories. It was as if there was a barrier between these 2 memories and he could freely access them as he wished. Though, he felt the alien memories were incomplete for some reason. The two memories didn't mix with each other, it was more as if they repelled each other, that only one of them could exist. He felt panicky. He didn't know what was happening? He didn't know who he could turn to. What could he do? What was happening? How come the world changed so much in a matter of a few minutes? What was he? He felt his mind racing more than it ever did before.
"Hey, what are you doing here alone? Aren't you normally with your group?" A girl's voice suddenly came from behind him. This person, he was sure, was someone he had never met before in his life. But, for some reason he immediately recognized her. It was 3, his twin sister. She came and sat beside him. "What happened? You don't have your usual air of over confidence around you?"
""I… I don't know. Something feels really weird." He decided that if he had to turn to someone, might as well be his "sister". He tells her everything that had just happened.
