"The water pipe burst?"
A stranger's voice suddenly rang out behind her head. Although it was broad daylight, she still jumped in fright. She turned around, pale-faced, to see who it was and only relaxed after she recognized the speaker.
She remembered this man, the one who only came out at night and referred to ringing his doorbell as grave digging—the weird man.
But what was he doing here? And why so silently? She didn't think a nocturnal man would wander around her place during the daytime for no reason.
Looking at him, he seemed half asleep still, with messy hair, dressed in home attire, wearing slippers… and it seemed like his eyes were not even fully open!
Thinking this, Charlotte Green took several steps back, warily eyeing him and calculating that if he dared move a step closer, she would sprint back into the house, lock the door, and call for help.
But he really did come over!
