Chapter 175 - Chapter 175 : The Gaze That Shattered Fate

The sky was torn by sheets of purple lightning, each flash revealing shattered corpses amid the rubble. The air was thick with the scent of burnt blood and sulfur, as if the entire city were breathing its last. Golden dust from the collapsing buildings swirled around the ghostly light of the moon, as though the stars themselves had scattered onto the earth.

"It seems the main event is about to begin."

Yu Tian's voice slithered out with a poisonous softness, like a silver knife slipping between a victim's ribs. His golden eyes—resembling those of a starving beast lurking in the depths of a mythical river—were fixed on the horizon, where a massive shadow began to take shape.

Yudie felt a shiver crawl down her spine. Her reddish-brown hair, which usually fluttered like a silk banner in the wind, now clung to her sweat-drenched neck. "What is that...?" she whispered, but her words were lost in the distant roar of explosions.

Boom.

The reply came in the form of an earthquake.

The earth split as though an angry god had struck it with a sword. From the jagged black fissures, the Evil Dragon emerged like a nightmare made flesh. Its obsidian scales gleamed like volcanic glass under the dim light, each one etched with ancient, pulsating runes of malice. Its wings, resembling the sails of a ghost ship, cast a shadow hundreds of meters wide. When it roared, the entire city trembled like a leaf in a hurricane.

Mo Xi, standing near Yu Tian, could only shudder briefly before hardening his gaze. He took a firm step forward, gripping his black scythe—its crimson edge trembling as if alive and starving for battle. "Holy Defense Formation!" he shouted, his voice a blend of despair and defiance.

Zhuqing struggled to breathe. Her glossy black claws—like shards of obsidian—extended from her nails with a sinister hiss. "This isn't just a dragon..." she murmured, her taut muscles twitching beneath her pale skin like the strings of a drawn bow.

Swish.

Mo Xi leapt first, his scythe carving a scarlet arc through the air. The strike should have pierced the dragon's left eye, but the Evil Dragon twisted with impossible speed for a creature of its size. Its tail, thick as a thousand-year-old tree trunk, struck Mo Xi mid-air, sending him crashing through three consecutive walls.

Boom.

The black-sworded warrior from the Celestial Clan seized the moment. His gleaming blade lunged at the dragon's belly in a precise, swift motion—but it pierced only a few centimeters deep.

Roooar!

The Evil Dragon unleashed a deafening roar, thrashing its tail again. This time, the Celestial warrior was sent flying backward—though he managed to land on his feet, unlike Mo Xi, who had been caught off guard.

Gu Pei'er stared at the dragon, a faint light flickering in her rose-colored eyes as she attempted to weave an illusion to stall it—just long enough to create an opening.

Rooar!!

The dragon gathered flames in its maw, ready to incinerate Gu Pei'er—when suddenly, a green fishing line coiled around its jaws, forcing the fire to explode inside its mouth.

"Well done, Hai Bing," Mo Xi's voice rang out. He had already recovered from the dragon's surprise attack and rejoined the fight.

In that moment, Zhuqing launched her final strike. Her obsidian claws glowed with an eerie violet light as she lunged at the dragon's right eye. With a ruthless slash, she carved deep into its scales and severed the eye without hesitation.

Swish.

The moment the eye was torn out, Zhuqing retreated. The dragon flailed wildly, destroying everything around it in its blind rage.

She wasn't the only one falling back. The Hunters from the Celestial Clan withdrew alongside Yu Tian.

"Do you intend to just watch?" Mo Xi asked quietly, careful not to sound rude. His cooperation with Yu Tian wasn't due to their inability to handle the dragon—but out of fear that Yu Tian might turn on them.

"..."

Yu Tian cast him a sidelong glance but said nothing, returning his gaze to the Evil Dragon, which was now attempting to flee back to its nest.

Then...

Yu Tian closed his eyes.

A moment of absolute silence.

When he reopened them, everything had changed.

His blood-red eyes were now gold—but not just any gold. They radiated a strange light, like windows into another universe where stars had long since died. The energy around him coiled like a colossal serpent; the very air hummed as if weeping.

The Evil Dragon froze mid-movement. Its body locked in place, its remaining eye wide with terror. It couldn't even muster a roar—only a stifled whimper.

Yu Tian slowly raised his right hand, as though gripping an invisible thread in the air. Then—he clenched his fist.

The sound that escaped the dragon wasn't a roar or a scream. It was a wail—the cry of a creature facing its inevitable end. Its body began cracking from within, crimson light seeping between its scales as if its blood had turned to light instead of liquid.

Then...

The Evil Dragon's body exploded.

Not a normal explosion—a disintegration, as though every atom in its being had decided to part ways. It vaporized, leaving only black dust drifting down like tainted snow.

The silence that followed was heavier than anything before it.

What Yu Tian had used wasn't just the Dragon's Gaze—but the Power of Destruction. He had annihilated the dragon's fate itself, invading its "indestructible" cocoon and rendering its survival impossible.

Mo Xi trembled, his eyes locked on Yu Tian, whose shadow now stretched three times longer than it should. "What... what are you?" he whispered, voice broken.

But Yu Tian didn't answer. He merely stared back with indifference.

"I believe our agreement was for you to answer my questions—not the other way around."

Yu Tian's detached tone was terrifying to all except Zhuqing. Witnessing him erase a monstrosity like the Evil Dragon with a mere flick of his hand was beyond comprehension.

Hearing his words, Mo Xi wisely shut his mouth. Provoking this monster—who could obliterate a dragon with a gesture—was unwise.

Luckily for Mo Xi, he didn't know the truth: that Yu Tian's slight motion hadn't just killed the dragon—it had shattered fate itself, a feat not even the strongest beings in the universe could achieve.
