It took a few hours for the machine to synthesize a new chain and almost ran out of material towards the end but I got my chain despite this. It was a strange feeling thing in my hands as it felt almost warm in the cold air and had a rough hewn crystal feel to it with sharp edges and lacking in mobility. The chain was stiff and didn't like moving at all but that was fine since even with the roughness to it I could feel the power thrumming through the chain as I held it.-
It wasn't like aura exactly but similar enough for me to pick up on it easily. I put the chain away in my bag and wasted no time at all deleting the data on how the chains were made as well destroying as the data chips in the computers and the machine for making the chains itself. Perhaps the league will throw a fit about this but I frankly didn't care as I refused to allow anyone else to so easily get their hands on this knowledge. I found the research data Cyrus used to build the framework of his plan and sighed as my understanding was proven true.-
He had pieced together the rough outline of the ancient hero's story from many years in the past and used science to bridge the gap to his world recreation plan though I noticed something odd about the story he had put together, there was no Arceus or Giratina. Not so much as the briefest mention of them here at all. The supplementary records he had barely mentioned Giratina vaguely and with little reverence but Arceus was suspiciously absent. Not so much as a whisper of the almighty existences well, existence to be found.-
'If I were a betting man I'd say someone has purposefully removed Arceus from knowledge. Why though? The chains can't possibly work on it right so why avoid mentioning it at all?' I pondered with a deep frown. It dawned on me that perhaps there was more to the ancient Hisui hero's story than was recorded but it hadn't been written down for some reason. Or at the very least the recording hadn't been found yet as it was hidden away. What the story stated was that the hero solved the disaster but that was it, it made no mention of what came AFTER that for the hero.-
These thoughts filled my head as I contacted Rowan and told him that I had raided the Galactic headquarters in Eterna city. "And you didn't think to perhaps inform me before you took it upon yourself to raid the building?" he asked sternly over the line. "To be fair I wanted to make sure it was safe, also that no needlessly dangerous information or technology remained. The stuff I took was merely my reward for the thankless job." I said with a small smirk.-
"Hmmm, I suppose I can accept that. I must ask however if this was truly necessary?" Rowan asked. "It was." I answered without hesitation. Of all the things I have done since coming to this world nearly two years ago I can say without a shadow of a doubt that my destruction of this tech and data was entirely necessary. Cyrus may have failed in the end but he was not a unique existence in this world. There will always be another Cyrus or Archie or Giovani who would seek to use things beyond their station to achieve some ambition that in the end won't end well for humanity.-
Perhaps I was merely forestalling the inevitable by seeing this stuff removed from play but I can't see anything wrong with that. I am not some noble person but even I had no want to see humanity hard reset because of a single group or persons foolish actions. If humanity was to be reset I believed that it was only reasonable that it be because of an error the whole race made, not just a tiny part of it. I didn't stick around for the league to raid the place themselves and left the building after balling up my team that didn't really need to be out to begin with.-
I had no intention of staying in the city any longer either and made my way to the city gate where I met a surprise. "You didn't think you could just vanish into the wild after giving me such a headache did you?" Cynthia asked with crossed arms as she stood in front of the gate. "I have no idea what you are talking about." I said calmly. "Really? So you have no idea about the chaos your little trip to Mt. Coronet caused across the region or even the many galactic members that are trying to flee the region?" she said and I winced a little.-
"Okay so I may have some idea but to be fair you've had several days to bring it up and haven't." I said defensively. She nodded "That's true but then you had to go and not only find the headquarters for Galactic that had been hidden in plain sight this whole time but also raid it and try to disappear into the wilderness. If I wasn't already in the city to visit you you might have even succeeded." she said with narrowed eyes.-
I sighed in exasperation "And how was I even supposed to know that if you didn't message me? I'm not prescient you know." I complained. "You say that but you've got the nasty habit of being exactly where you needed to be at the exact moment you need to be to stop disasters." she said challengingly. "Nonsense I more often than not end up stumbling into those situations or merely reacting to them." I say seriously. "Whatever the case I knew you would try and weasel your way out of the paperwork that came with your little stunt here and took precautions."-
"Even if you were to go to the other gates or into the air you'd find someone blocking the way away from the city. We couldn't block teleportation for the whole city but we didn't need to since you have no pokemon that know the move." she said smugly. "An awful lot of effort for something so small." I said shaking my head.
