Chapter 30 - Not Telling

Vaniu, D-Rank Adventurer, Member of Roja' s Nehu Family Search Unit

Currently, the mission has changed to stopping Roja from harming Lord Jaigia' s guest sister.

We ran at full speed without stopping, with the tracker, summoner, and mage sent by BB to assist, searching for Roja with all our might.

The tracker used a skill to detect traces, but if the traces were overwritten—like footprints being stepped over by others—his low-level skill couldn' t detect them.

The summoner conjured a bird to fly into the sky and used a skill to share its vision, scouting from above.

The mage used detection magic, but due to his low rank, the range was limited, the information vague, and his mana so low he could only cast it sparingly.

The only one we could truly rely on was our team' s summon.

Because the two guilds trailing close behind didn' t have a single search specialist.

"Why haven' t we found her yet?!"

I snapped in frustration at the summoner.

"It' s not a dog to track by scent! I' m sharing its =) I' m already straining my eyes to the point of blindness here!"

"Would you rather go blind or get killed by Lord Jaigia?!"

"Ugh! Fine, I get it!"

Damn it, the summoner' s low level meant he could only summon a small bird that wasn' t fast and sometimes missed details.

Where the hell is Roja? I don' t want to lose my head because of you!

Please, Goddess, don' t let Roja harm Lord Jaigia' s guest sister.

"Found her! I see her!"

"Is the girl with her?! Has Roja hurt her?!"

"I see two people! They both look fine!"

"Are there any other kids?!"

"Nope!"

"Does Roja have blood on her?!"

"Hmm… I don' t think so!"

I let out a sigh of relief. My heavy, relentless footsteps lightened, and the tension began to ease.

At least she hasn' t done anything yet. My head' s safe for now!

But we couldn' t let our guard down.

"Lead the way, quick! Before Roja spots us!"

"I' ll have it fly lower! Follow the bird!"

"Go! Go! Go!"

After running for a while, the summoner, noticing something, reported:

"It looks like Roja' s entering a house."

"Hurry! Hurry! Make the bird block her or something!"

"Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!"

Just restrain her, Roja, don' t hurt her, please.

"Damn it! The vision' s cut!"

"What happened?!"

"An archer in Roja' s team! They shot my bird!"

"Why the hell would they shoot it?! Damn it! Hurry! We' ve got to stop Roja now, or we' re all dead!"

It took a while, but we finally reached the house Roja entered.

Inside, we found the bodies of two middle-aged men.

"There' s been a fight! We' ll focus on finding and stopping Roja and protecting any girls we find in there!"

After everyone acknowledged, I rushed in first.

Since I didn' t hear any sounds of fighting, my heart grew heavy.

Roja has a habit of dissecting bodies after a fight.

She might not realize it, but after every battle, she grabs a knife, plays with it, and stares at the corpses.

We found Roja' s team looting treasures. When we asked where Roja was, they said she was in the innermost room and joked:

"Probably having fun dissecting in there, haha!"

"!!?"

Everyone in my team bolted toward the innermost room.

The sight before us confirmed we were too late.

One of the girl' s fangs had been removed, and her cheek was being sliced open.

"Stop right now, Roja!"

"Stop, please!"

"No, Roja, you can' t!"

"Stop! Stop!"

"Heal her, quick!"

"Get Roja out of here!"

"Restrain her! Drag her out!"

Everyone rushed to pull Roja away while I was shouted at to start healing.

"I know, damn it! No need to tell me! Heal! Cure Abnormal Status! Restore Stamina! Buff Strength! Heal! Heal! Heal! Heal!"

Healing magic wasn' t enough. I poured every healing potion I had onto her body without hesitation.

I kept casting every spell I could think of on the girl in front of me until my mana ran dry, and I passed out mid-air.

Someone caught me, fed me a mana restoration potion, and I came to.

I cast again without thinking, fainting multiple times until the mana potions ran out, and I finally stopped.

The bleeding had stopped, but the wound was a mess. Was it because there were no proper dissection tools?

This was too brutal. Her flesh was torn away, exposing her teeth. The fang and surrounding teeth on the left side had been pried out.

She was unconscious from severe injury and blood loss.

I pulled the girl into my arms.

"I' m sorry, I was too late."

Damn it! I can only hope Lord Jaigia only punishes Roja.

It has to be that way since we came to help, not harm her.

"Get her back to the guild, quick! And take Roja to Lord Jaigia! I' ll explain everything myself!"

Roja sheathed her weapon and stood still, not resisting.

But at that moment, a booming announcement echoed across the kingdom:

--- This is an announcement from the Main Branch of the Adventurer' s Administration Office ---

--- With permission from King Raven Strike, the supreme ruler of the Tatentai Kingdom ---

--- We hereby declare a state of emergency! I repeat, a state of emergency! ---

Everyone was in a panic, listening intently to the announcement that followed.

The contents made everyone' s faces tense to the extreme, except for Roja, who broke into a wide, gleeful grin.

Seeing that, my instincts screamed at me to run.

*****

Roja, Leader of the Dissection Team, Subordinate Team, Unit 5, [Shining Fang Guild]

After hearing from Vaniu' s team about Lord Jaigia' s change of decision—from taking the fang to finding and protecting the girl and bringing her back to the guild—I pretended to surrender and let them capture me.

Before running into Bui, I made the mistake of not realizing how strange it was for people in the slums to be chasing the girl.

Slums are like that—crimes of every kind happen all the time.

My analytical sharpness had dulled, probably from hiding too long. Jaigia' s guild kept me too safe, and my old instincts faded.

I' ll make my escape when they' re distracted on the way back to the guild.

I don' t want to reveal my identity just yet.

While deciding which kingdom to flee to, the administration announced a dungeon break in the slums across the kingdom.

I nearly grinned ear to ear. Now I had an excuse to explain to Jaigia.

Time to destroy all the evidence, haha!

I shook off the two holding my arms, activated my stealth skill, and vanished before their eyes.

I never told anyone I was an assassin. I had to get ranked before joining the guild, but I bribed the staff.

During the evaluation, they used someone else' s data, registering me as [Rank C] with no class.

Then I killed the staff, making it look like they died from a chronic illness.

Since no one knew my true abilities, they couldn' t counter me and panicked like this.

"He' s gone!"

"Huh?! He was right here!"

"How' d he do that?! Does he have a stealth skill?!"

"Roja can go invisible?!"

"What' s going on?!"

"Is there a traitor?!"

"Anyone see Roja?!"

"He doesn' t have a class!"

"Did someone cast an illusion on him? Show yourself!"

"Find him, quick! Before he escapes!"

"Or maybe—argh!"

I stabbed the throat of the first one to realize I had this class.

I let go of the knife to avoid blood dripping and revealing my position.

Then I grabbed another' s sword and killed the mage, archer, and summoner first since they had search and detection skills.

Luckily, they' d used up all their healing potions on that brat. Once I took out the healer, they had no chance of survival.

I stabbed Vaniu' s throat clean through and left the room immediately.

Let them stay confused, thinking I was still in there.

No one' s leaving here alive. They all have to die.

That way, I can claim they didn' t escape the monster wave.

I grabbed a weapon from the floor, rushed to the entrance, slammed the door shut, and barred it with the weapon.

The slaughterhouse is open for business!

I began the massacre, starting with those closest to the door, prioritizing mages or anyone with wide-range skills.

The other guilds weren' t spared, but I stirred the pot, shouting:

"Kill them all! The treasure belongs to [Shining Fang Guild] alone!"

When the ones from the inner room came after me, it seemed plausible.

As I stealth-killed their backline, the two guilds turned on my guild' s members in retaliation.

Anyone trying to explain it was a misunderstanding—that I was the only enemy—I slit their throats immediately.

The hallway became a miniature battlefield. I ran, jumped, and climbed walls silently, unnoticed, picking up weapons from the ground to throw, slash, or stab vital points.

If I wasn' t sure a target would die in one hit, I' d slice their ankles to make them fall or cut the hand holding their weapon.

Since no one knew my class or skills, and I killed the smart ones before they could analyze me, they couldn' t counter.

By the time they realized there was only one enemy, the damage was done.

My stealth skill erased my presence and sound. Even if they started to catch on and fight back, without a way to locate me, they were sitting ducks.

My sneak attack skill amplified damage if the target was unaware, letting me kill in one strike.

My critical strike skill let me know exactly where vital points were and hit them with precision.

Bodies dropped like falling leaves.

Even heavily armored tanks in full gear weren' t an issue.

I have one more special skill, my trump card, that no one can know about.

And I' m not telling you, either.

Hahahahahahaha!!!
