Oberon shook his thoughts away a second time.
"Even I doubted myself at some point," Oberon said, voice tight. "Who would've thought this would happen."
"Apparently, you," Jenera replied, her voice just as tense. "Without you, we'd be having a very different conversation right now."
Oberon exhaled deeply, calming the rising chill in his chest. "So… how do we deal with this?"
They were currently in the heart of a vast desert, not a single green in sight for miles. The sun beat down, hot and merciless, but none of the Eldorians gathered seemed to feel its scorching rays.
Many of them wore varying expressions, but one emotion took precedence: dread.
Oberon glanced at the people standing beside him and felt a bit of reassurance. Aside from the Eldorians that Atticus had taken with him, the rest were currently gathered.
Avalon stood at the forefront, the temperature around him searing, his eyes blazing.
The others were no less tense.
