Chapter 2204 - -2162- The fall of Izanagi

The Izanagi clan had long known that Rozen could summon hundreds of thousands of shikigami by himself.

Because of this, many—Domon Kira included—had been shocked and astonished for quite some time.

Even for Domon Kira, the strongest magus in Japan, the number of shikigami she could summon was only in the thousands, and that was already under conditions of ignoring mana consumption and going all out. If she truly summoned thousands of shikigami, her mana would likely be depleted within a short period.

Yet Rozen could summon hundreds of thousands of shikigami and involve them in the battle at the Machinart City, sustaining the summoning for at least ten minutes. For the Izanagi, not to be astonished by this would be impossible.

It was precisely because they were Onmyouji that they understood just how difficult Rozen's feat truly was.

That brat who once recklessly acted inside Izanagi's forbidden lands with nothing but raw talent, and who had to expend great effort just to deal with a single Enenra, had now reached such a level—it was something many still refused to believe.

After confirming this news, the Izanagi were speechless for a long time. Even Domon Kira had been irritable for days, though she had no choice but to admit that Rozen was no longer who he used to be.

Even Edward Rutherford, the strongest magus of the 19th century, had been no match for Rozen—this fact alone proved that Domon Kira herself was also not his match.

A mere adopted son of the Akabane family, once overlooked and dismissed, had risen to this height—far beyond what Domon Kira or the Izanagi had ever anticipated.

Still, the Izanagi were not so easily intimidated by Rozen.

Even if Rozen was no longer the same, shaking the foundation of the Izanagi by himself? Impossible.

If the clan were to go all out and employ their inherited secret arts and forbidden techniques, surpassing even hundreds of thousands of shikigami was not beyond their capabilities.

With this in mind, Domon Kira regarded Rozen as a threat—but not a fatal one.

"Even if that boy learns the truth from back then, if he thinks he can shake Izanagi, he's dreaming,"

That was her belief.

Thus, Domon Kira only observed Rozen from the shadows and decided to stop sending people like Hinowa to make contact with him—neither provoking nor angering him was enough.

Until today—when all members of the Izanagi, Domon Kira included—realized how naive they had been.

So naive, it was laughable.

"Boom!"

As if even the heavens were enraged, thunder shook the air—and from the Izanagi residence surged endless waves of demons, ogre, and monsters.

Some cackled maniacally.

Some were grotesque in form.

Some howled in fury.

Some danced in glee.

As if the gates of hell had been thrown open, and the imprisoned demons had gained freedom and daylight, countless supernatural beings erupted from a massive magic circle. As they filled the skies over Mt. Tengu, they flew wildly and euphorically.

The Hyakki Yagyo—Night Parade of One Hundred Demons—had descended upon the world.

Then, these demons and monsters turned on the Onmyouji of the Izanagi and began to rampage.

It was a calamity.

A nightmare—for the Izanagi.

Endless demons engaged the Izanagi's summoned shikigami with screeches and roars, unleashing overwhelming might.

The Onmyouji were dumbfounded.

Faced with this nightmare-like scene, they couldn't believe their eyes—it seemed unreal.

The grand shikigami they had summoned in unison were either pushed back or crushed and trampled one by one by the onslaught of demons—dissolving into miasma and vanishing completely.

The power the Izanagi took pride in was utterly helpless before the Hyakki Yagyo.

"Deploy the barrier!"

"Hurry! Counterattack!"

Kamo and Yuge shouted repeatedly, though even their voices trembled with fear they hadn't noticed themselves.

The Onmyouji scrambled to follow orders, deploying wards, summoning more shikigami to resist the invading demons—but their hands shook, and their faces were pale.

"Boom—!"

A shikigami shaped like a giant wheel smashed through a building.

"Boom—!"

A monstrous figure resembling a mountain god smashed a residence with a single punch, reducing it to rubble.

The demons and monsters weren't just fighting the Onmyouji—they were running rampant in all directions, destroying and defiling everything in sight.

Soon, screams of women and cries of children echoed through the air as homes were set ablaze one after another, turning the entire Izanagi compound into a sea of flames that lit the sky red.

On this day, the Izanagi—the pillar clan of the nation—tasted utter annihilation.

People screamed in panic.

They fled in terror.

The monsters roared as they chased after the fleeing masses.

"Stop them!"

"No! No!"

"Get out of my way!"

Many Onmyouji dashed forward to protect their families, pale-faced and hysterically summoning shikigami in a desperate fight against the Hyakki Yagyo.

"Young Miss!"

"Young Miss!"

Even Subaru and Mutsura shouted in fear, summoning their shikigami to fend off the demons surrounding Hinowa.

But Hinowa's mind had gone completely blank.

"Rozen-sama... Nuragami-sama..."

Watching the calamity unfold, staring at the burning ruins of Izanagi, Hinowa staggered forward, seemingly trying to approach Rozen.

"Danger!"

"Don't go there!"

Subaru and Mutsura quickly pulled her back and sent shikigami to intercept the incoming wave of demons.

But even with their strength, it was impossible to protect Hinowa amidst such chaos.

Soon, more demons broke through their defense.

Luckily, another group of shikigami charged in from the side, momentarily halting the demon advance.

They were young Onmyouji, around the same age as Hinowa and the others.

"Lady Hinowa!"

"Subaru! Mutsura!"

"What the hell is going on!?"

"Someone explain this to me!"

While operating their shikigami to hold the line, the young Onmyouji shouted desperately.

Clearly, they had lost their composure and were completely thrown into chaos.

Not just them—even Subaru and Mutsura had lost their calm.

How could they remain calm?

"That bastard Rozen! How could he do this!?"

Mutsura shouted, his voice filled with fury.

But Subaru yelled back immediately—

"So what? Didn't we do the same thing to his family!?"

That one sentence rendered Mutsura speechless.

Instead, the young Onmyouji started shouting in confusion—

"What do you mean!?"

"What did we do to the Akabane!?"

"Is everything that person said true!?"

The scene completely descended into chaos, allowing the panic to keep spreading.
