Chapter 24 - Chapter 24: I Will Not Betray You

Shami was stunned.

Lureya was also stunned.

Both of them sat down under a maple tree to ponder life.

Shami was slightly better off, as at least he didn't come out empty-handed. After gaining his first Demon Envoy, his level increased significantly.

[Having Your First Demon Envoy (Completed)]

[Experience +114]

[Level 3→5]

[Skill Points +2]

[Demon Envoys are the most loyal companions to the Demon King, so you can't just treat them as subordinates. You have to take care of them like family~]

"..."

Shami glanced sideways at the flat-chested blonde not far away, who was also gazing at the sky at a 45° angle.

Although she was weak and her thought process abnormal, in terms of appearance, the Tablet Spirit had stunning looks.

Having an Elf Maiden as the mascot for the demon clan doesn't seem like a bad idea; she could be used for external promotion in the future.

Besides, the Elf Race is the noblest bloodline on the continent, and this flat-chested blonde started with a classic three-stage Spiritual Qi; she should improve in the future.

Being the Demon King, Shami quickly adjusted his mindset.

Since he already completed the contract with the flat-chested blonde, breaking it now would severely impact him, almost costing him half his life.

Since things were like this, he could only accept it.

Shami sighed and made peace with himself.

He just didn't know what the flat-chested blonde was thinking.

On the other hand, the blonde elf Lureya, gazing at the sky at a 45° angle, had long come to terms with herself and even wanted to go eat soon. But since Shami was motionless, she was too embarrassed to get up first.

She never expected his guard to be up, causing her to fail at the critical moment.

The maiden had thought of everything; this was just unforeseen and not her fault.

Upon reflection, she knew exactly where she went wrong.

During the wave clash with the villagers, she carelessly stood to the left, triggering one of this world's truths, leading to her defeat.

So the Elf Maiden shouldn't be blamed for this.

However, this sneak attack gave the Elf Maiden hope.

Shami wasn't invincible. If he became complacent enough, he'd eventually show a flaw.

So, being a Demon Envoy wasn't necessarily a bad thing. It allowed her to grow closer to the Demon King.

And ignite her own micro-universe.

It's said that only in adversity can a turnaround emerge.

Who will win or lose, victory or defeat is yet undecided.

Everything before her eyes is nothing but fleeting clouds.

Lureya thus made peace with herself.

Shami stood up.

Lureya immediately sensed his movement.

He walked over, and her crossed legs slightly shifted inward.

"W-What do you want...?"

"I wanted to talk to you about something."

Lureya blinked, a bit at a loss.

"Whatever you want... I have to obey your orders anyway..."

Shami squatted in front of Lureya.

Now, with their souls partly intertwined under the Demon Envoy Link, hiding his identity was pointless.

He took a deep breath and confessed, "Actually, my true identity is the 72nd heir to the Demon King."

Silence.

"Is that it?!"

Lureya raised an eyebrow, "I knew that by Chapter 4! You just wouldn't admit it."

"Alright, I'm telling you honestly now. You've become my Demon Envoy, so let's get along well from now on."

Shami shrugged and extended his hand to Lureya.

"You weren't listening to my complaints at all..."

Lureya sighed in exasperation, but she slowly reached out her hand and clapped it with his.

"Oh..."

The flat-chested blonde briefly accepted the change in status.

But that clap set off something.

[Name: Lureya Youze Aigal]

[Race: Light Elf]

[Status: Normal]

[Position: None]

[Identity: Demon Envoy (Hidden Role, only the contracted Demon King knows)]

[Power: Spiritual Qi Stage Three]

[Loyalty: 5]

Now, the elf's personal panel had an extra piece of information about loyalty.

What the heck is a loyalty of 5?

Shami quickly went through the relevant info on demon loyalty in his mind.

[Loyalty is a measure of the relationship between the Demon King and his subordinates. Good loyalty ensures subordinates are devoted to the Demon King, fostering a harmonious atmosphere within the demon team. The higher the loyalty, the more trust and less likelihood of betrayal there is towards the Demon King. The lower the loyalty, the more distrust and likelihood of breeding betrayal thoughts towards the Demon King.]

Is that so?

But the flat-chested elf was already his Demon Envoy and difficult to betray the Demon King, making this loyalty scale seem a bit redundant.

[Although a Demon Envoy is bound by the contract and difficult to betray the Demon King, they share a symbiotic relationship. The Demon Envoy's loyalty affects the Demon King's abilities. The higher the loyalty, the more positive boosts and benefits the Demon King can gain from the Demon Envoy; the lower the loyalty, the opposite effect.]

"..."

While Shami didn't expect to gain much from the flat-chested elf, knowing this was necessary for future contracts with other Demon Envoys, he kept on learning.

By a scale of 10, a loyalty of 5 should be alright, shouldn't it?

[Loyalty Levels]

[Loyalty below 30: on the brink of rebellion at any time. (Panic! Withdrawal! Betrayal! Scoot!)]

[Loyalty 30-49: easily betrays. (Hero, don't misunderstand, I'm just casual friends with the Demon King.)]

[Loyalty 50-69: average loyalty. (I've roamed half my life, only regretting never meeting a wise master, if you don't mind, I wish to serve as an adoptive son!)]

[Loyalty 70-89: relatively loyal. (Willing to serve the Demon King to the best of their abilities. In face of life-and-death decisions, there may still be a chance of surrendering and betraying.)]

[Loyalty 90+: absolute loyalty. (Master, welcome home~ tonight, do you want to eat first, take a bath, or perhaps, eat me first♡~?)]

Looking at the flat-chested elf's loyalty of 5, Shami's eye twitched.

So you're thinking of selling me out any time...

[Loyalty is related to intimacy and favorability.]

[Monsters can increase intimacy through related information in the Demons Atlas, thus increasing loyalty.]

[Due to the uniqueness of Demon Envoys, there is no standard answer to increasing their loyalty. One must earnestly nurture and build relationships to raise the Demon Envoy's favorability, thereby increasing loyalty.]

At this point, from Shami's probing ability, information about favorability appeared with the flat-chested elf.

[Name: Lureya Youze Aigal]

[Loyalty: 5]

[Favorability: 10]

A JRPG game suddenly turned into a galgame!

"Hey, are you alright? Your expression hasn't been right since just now?"

Shami composed his scattered thoughts.

"Nothing's wrong. Of course, nothing's wrong."

"That's good because I'm your Demon Envoy now. I definitely won't betray you."

Lureya placed her hands behind her head, walking with an indifferent tone.

"You... better be..."
