Su Shen frowned ever so slightly. Could these three little imps not say something remotely optimistic for once? But he didn't have the energy to bicker with them today. He explained patiently, "That's not true at all. Your mother still has a few things to take care of in Guangcheng. She also wants to spend a few days with your grandparents. So she asked me to come back first and wrap things up here. Once I've handled everything, I'll go bring her back."
The two older children nodded in understanding. As long as it wasn't that their mother had abandoned them, they were fine. But Su Le, the youngest, was not so easily placated. Her round eyes stared accusingly up at Su Shen.
"Bad Daddy!" she huffed. "You left Mommy all alone in another place even though she's carrying a baby! You don't care about Mommy at all. How can work be more important than Mommy? Hmph!"
