Chapter 10 - Kuta 03

This wooden area was far away from where she was currently staying and did not look like there was anything around either. Her sixth sense of danger was screaming at her this was a trap and that she had been set up. Though she was not completely ignoring it at the moment it was always at the back of her mind and on her radar to act at a moment's notice. She really did believe in her family that much that they were still trying to help her continue just being the same Kuta Sabre she had been before her birthday. She was still the same swordmaster that she was when went to bed that night just now she was a mage who was a swordmaster. She might not be a weapon user in the traditional sense but she was more of one than she was a mage in that aspect.

She held the sword that she was given in her hands. Not a practice sword meant for training but a full on combat ready sword was in her grasp. Not that she would be using it as she did not need such a sword as she had hers on her at all times after all. No need to draw one when the arms themselves were her literal weapons of choice as the swordmaster she wanted to remain instead of the mage that she had become without her awareness.

"Interesting that we made it here at twilight, Spellblade," the servant said all of a sudden.

They stopped walking to where ever this place they were taking her was.

"Why has everyone been calling me by my title lately before everyone was just calling me Lady Sabre or Miss Sabre since my talent was originally discovered," Kuta asked.

This was something that was truly bothering her as the title itself was not what worried her it was how and why they were using it that did. It did not sound like they were speaking to her with the same level of respect and acknowledgment as before when that name was spoken to her. It felt more like an insult, a sign of disrespect, and even a disproval instead.

"Talent!? You have any kind of talent that a joke that is too far even for me to stomach anymore. Though not that I need to anymore. After all, you are just a mage as you have no talent for the blade just that cheap blade magic of yours" the servant said as they spat the ground with their back still turned to her.

"Of course I have talent do you know how hard I trained my mind and body? I am serious just look at my arms they are visible proof that I have talent and if not talent then at least proof of my hard work and how much I follow the path of the blade rather than magic" Kuta said looking annoyed.

"The path of the blade, huh," the servant said.

"Why are we.....what are you doing that could have harmed me" Kuta demanded to know as she blocked a hidden dagger with one of her arms.

"A weapon user instead of a mage then why are you not using the new blade I just gave you but instead dropped it to the ground to favor your wand instead," the servant said.

"Seriously!? Are you seriously asking me that question" Kuta inquired as she was narrowing her eyes as she looked at them.

"Did I stutter" the servant replied back "How can you be a weapon user if you refuse to use a weapon resorting to your wand instead?

According to them that was her last chance as the servant was the only one who was willing to take her in after her own family had not just abandoned her but instead just straight up replaced her entirely instead. If she had proven to them that she was really ready to follow the path of the sword truly by using the sword she was given no matter the wrong feeling it gave off. That would be her truly following the path of the blade as a weapon users that would be re-taught everything from square one. After she would be restricted from ever using her blade magic and arms as swords ever again.

Kuta's reply to this was kicking the sword back at them as this was a rejection of turning her back on everything she had built herself up to be until this point. She could not start over as using a sword that was not her own had wrongness to it that she felt she not only could not get over but actually should not get over either. Thus took a stance that she always had when getting ready to fight someone seriously with the only weapon she ever used and would continue to do so her wand formerly her own arms/swords.

However shortly after the fight began though sighing Kuta just stood there with one arm behind her back. Blocking all the strikes of the servant with only one arm through the block was being done as if she was parrying them with a sword rather than an arm. The servant had a smile on their face until they saw her other arm the one behind her back was dropping all the hidden daggers that were being launched at her from behind. She blocked him with one arm and defended her backside with the other.

"I see this is an assassination attempt that I heard about that some Sabres have to deal with. I did not think I had that problem though" Kuta said at least not from within the family.

'Why is she able to block everything I am doing she is just a mage that was pretending to be a weapon user as she does not even have a blade to defend herself with' the servant thought.

"Did you really think I forgot how your family fights I have gone up against them in serious matches before and developed this counter to your moves" she informed her.

This is when Kuta removed the hand from behind her back and once again took the stance that she normally did when she was about to get serious or at the very least no longer playing around. Then she was gone as she just seemed to vanish from their view before usually walking back towards away back towards what she assumed by the path back to her family manor.

"Oh yeah I would not move if I were you as whoever sent you to kill me apparently did not actually want me dead but you instead," she told them.

"What do you mean do not move as I entrusted this task by...." the servant said ignoring her warning and the moment they had the world seemed to slide at an angle.

It was not the world that was changing but the servant as Kuta had sliced and diced them so finely that as long as they did not move they would live. The cuts were done in a manner that they would heal since was one of those types of cuts after all. The type where the cut is so clean that damage would only appear if there was movement. Then the fact that they had been cut would register and the damage could occur as it would have normally.

Kuta did not care to look back as the servant collapsed into a pile of parts as she was not against killing as she had done that as swordmaster after all. They were dealt with deadly weapons after all and they would not get stronger if they did come at each other with full force and the intent to kill at times. She never went out of her way to kill someone but she did not hold back as this was just the kind of family she was born into and raised in. She did not have a normal childhood but then that much should have been clear given she was the youngest swordmaster after all. That had a light and dark side to it after all, however, Kuta fortunately never dived too deep into that dark side as she did not embrace nor fear it. She acknowledged it at least at the depth that she was in which any reason that made her a unique case amongst her family. However, it was because she was a unique case that she refused to believe that her own family would just replace her like that and thus was going to get proof that was a lie. This was not done by her father or family directly but by someone who was against her without her convincing them, she was the same weapon user she had always been. Being a mage should not have changed that only altered it a bit as the drive and desire to follow the path of the blade was still the same as before.
