The man froze, staring at Su Jiyai like he had seen a ghost. His voice cracked as he asked, "W-What do you mean by that?"
Su Jiyai smiled, but there was no warmth in it. Only coldness and something even more terrifying.
"What if what you fear," she said slowly, "is exactly what I'm going to do?"
The man stumbled back a step, his face pale. Fear filled his eyes, and without another word, he suddenly turned to run.
"Qin Feng," Su Jiyai said lazily, not even looking at him.
Qin Feng moved immediately.
With quick steps, he grabbed the man by the back of his shirt and yanked him off his feet like he was nothing but a struggling fish caught on a hook.
The man kicked and thrashed wildly, but it was useless. Qin Feng held him firmly, forcing him back to the ground.
Su Jiyai chuckled softly, the sound light but chilling.
"Why are you running?" she asked, tilting her head slightly. "You're the boy's loving father, aren't you?"
