Chapter 161 - CHAPTER 158: THE REVEAL

CHAPTER 158: THE REVEAL

As their car pulled up to the hospital entrance, Diana gently tapped her husband's arm.

"Treasure… we're here," she said softly.

James stirred, his eyes fluttering open. They were bloodshot. Exhaustion clung to his features like a second skin. The few minutes of rest he had stolen on the drive hadn't been enough—far from it.

Diana's heart ached as she looked at him. He was trying so hard. All this… just for her.

"Babe… should we postpone?" she asked, her brows furrowed in concern. "We can always come back later."

James gave a weak but reassuring smile. "I'll be fine," he said, reaching for her hand. "Come on. Let's go."

They stepped out of the car together, his fingers interlacing with hers like it was second nature.

Standing tall in front of the hospital entrance was Harry, flanked by a group of doctors dressed immaculately in white coats. Behind them, the rest of Diana's family began climbing out of their cars, forming a line beside her.

Harry's brows lifted slightly at the sight of them all. Clearly, he hadn't expected the entire clan.

"Good day, boss," Harry greeted James respectfully with a small bow of his head. Then he turned to Diana. "Di."

"Good morning, brother-in-law," Diana beamed, pulling him into a hug.

Harry hugged her back warmly, his usual cool demeanor softening. "Good morning, everyone," he added, looking at the assembled family. "Wow, it's the whole village."

"Yep," Raymond grinned. "Good day to you too."

"Harry, this is my family… and grandma, of course," Diana said with pride.

"Well, Diana's family is my family now," Harry replied with a smile. "I'll be Diana's doctor throughout this pregnancy. And James, Diana, " he continued, turning toward the line of elite medical personnel behind him, "this team right here will be your attending doctors."

Diana blinked at the group. "All these people?"

"You deserve the best, baby," James said before Harry could even respond.

Her cheeks flushed instantly, and Phoebe let out a small squeal as she tickled Diana's waist. "Look at you, madam luxury," she teased.

Diana laughed and turned to the team. "Well then, I'll be disturbing all of you. Please take care of me."

"We wouldn't dare do otherwise, ma'am," one of the female doctors responded with a charming smile. She had striking red hair and a confident poise.

"Alright, let's go inside," Harry said. "I'll take you all to a private waiting room while we conduct the tests."

As the entire group made their way inside, heads turned. Whispers fluttered through the corridors. Patients and hospital staff alike looked on in curiosity and awe. Who were these people that had drawn out the hospital owner himself?

Katherine, ever one for drama, squared her shoulders and began to sway her hips as she walked. She was soaking in every second of the attention, a proud smirk on her face.

Jason and Jackson exchanged knowing glances, both shaking their heads at their mother's antics but neither of them said a word.

Inside the pristine private ward, the family settled into comfortable couches. Meanwhile, Harry led Diana and James into the examination room. The space was sterile but warm, designed for comfort.

"Please, Diana. Lay down on the examination chair," Harry instructed.

James held her hand as she settled in. She gave his fingers a squeeze. He squeezed back.

Harry pulled a stool closer to her side, rolling in the ultrasound machine and its transducer. The low hum of the equipment filled the room.

"Diana, please lift your top a bit."

She did as instructed, and as soon as her shirt rose, a tiny bump became visible.

"Harry, look," Diana said, her voice barely above a whisper. "Can you see the bump?"

Harry's eyes narrowed slightly as he examined her. "There's only one explanation for this," he murmured, glancing briefly at James.

"And what explanation is that?" James asked, gripping Diana's hand tighter.

"We're about to find out," Harry replied.

He squeezed some of the cool gel onto her stomach and gently pressed the ultrasound transducer against her skin. The sound waves began doing their work, bouncing off her insides, forming echoes, translating into shadows and light on the monitor beside them.

The room went quiet.

All three of them stared at the screen, hearts suspended in time.

And then—

Thump. Thump. Thump.

A heartbeat. Strong, steady.

But before the joy could settle, another sound joined it.

Thump. Thump. Thump.

Two distinct rhythms.

Two heartbeats.

The screen flickered and sharpened its focus.

There, right before them, were two tiny beings, the size of poppy seeds, floating in the dark, lit by the glow of life.

Harry leaned back, a small smile tugging at his lips.

"There you have your explanation," he said softly. "Congratulations. You're having twins."

James blinked and stared at Harry in disbelief. "Harry… please tell me this is a joke."

"Well, my dear friend, it can't be a joke," Harry said with a wide grin, his eyes sparkling. "The ultrasound doesn't lie, and besides…" he turned the screen slightly, "we can all clearly hear the two heartbeats."

Diana gasped, her hand flying to her mouth. She turned to James and squeezed his hand tightly, tears brimming in her eyes.

"It's two now, James," she whispered, voice trembling with joy. "Not just one anymore."

James gave a slow nod, eyes softening as a smile formed on his lips. He leaned forward and kissed her forehead gently.

"Oh my God…" Diana laughed, the sound light and airy as happy tears spilled freely. "Two, baby! We're having twins!"

James turned to Harry, still processing it. "But how is this even possible, Harry?"

Harry chuckled. "James, some things even science can't fully explain. But I'll dig deeper and try to find out. Maybe the second embryo was hiding earlier or something else was at play. But what matters most now is they're both healthy."

"Does it matter how it happened?" Diana asked, still breathless from joy as she looked at her husband. "As long as our babies' hearts are beating strong and fine… I'm happy. This is a double blessing, babe."

James grinned. "Well, double for you, but triple for me. I got you, remember?"

Diana's grin widened, and she let out a soft laugh. "Okay, okay triple blessings for me too. I got you as well."

Harry watched the couple's playful banter with a smile tugging at his lips. Moments like this made his work feel magical.

He handed Diana a box of wipes. "Here, clean yourself up."

Once she was done, he led them into his office for a private conversation. James helped her settle down, and Harry sat across from them with a professional but warm expression.

"So, Diana," he began, folding his hands on the desk. "I guess this is the reason why you felt like the medications I gave you weren't working. The symptoms you were experiencing were doubled but I only treated you for a single pregnancy."

Diana blinked. "So… the increased appetite, the intense fatigue, the terrible morning sickness… it was all because of the twins?"

"Exactly," Harry confirmed. "And truthfully, it will only intensify from here on. That's why I'm recommending increased doses of folic acid and iron. Multiples tend to drain the body faster. These nutrients will help prevent iron-deficiency anemia, which is more common with twins."

He paused for a beat, then continued. "You'll likely experience more swelling, heartburn, leg cramps, bladder discomfort, and disrupted sleep."

James squeezed Diana's hand, a protective look crossing his face.

Harry smiled. "But don't worry. We'll monitor you closely. I'll also have our dietician plan a high-protein diet for you. Your babies need it for muscle, organ, and skin development. Think more fish, eggs, milk, meat, cheese, and yoghurt."

Diana nodded slowly, digesting the weight of this new chapter.

Then Harry leaned back in his seat and asked, "Now… do you want to know the sex of your babies?"
