Chapter 11 - BLUNDER

Ishana:

"How can you touch someone so easily, huh?! Are you crazy or what?"

Abhi:

"Hey, relax!! I was just kidding around… because you said you're a lesbian."

"If it hurt you in any way, I'm really sorry. I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable."

"And honestly, if you want to reject me, just say it directly. Don't come up with such a crazy excuse!"

Ishana:(looks away, biting her lip)

"I can't reject you... You'll have to reject me."

"That's why I said it."

Abhi:(laughs a little, bitterly)

"Hah! What a joke. Listen, I don't even have the right to reject you either."

"Because my parents don't care what I want. They never even told me that I was coming here to see a girl!"

"But after seeing you… I thought, 'Not bad'. I wouldn't mind marrying someone like you."

"Still, I don't want to get married. I don't want my life to get complicated."

Ishana:

"Huh! Same here. I don't want marriage either. But my parents just won't listen. They forced me to meet you."

"And just so you know, I will mind marrying someone who can't even control his own life!"

Abhi:(steps closer, voice rising)

"Oh, really? And you're acting like you've got your whole life under control?"

(They both go silent, breathing heavily. The air is tense. Just then, Ishana's father walks up onto the terrace.)

Father:

"Well, I guess you both like each other!"

"That's great. One more thing — we've already fixed the engagement date."

"It's this weekend!"

Ishana:(shocked)

"What?! How could you decide that without asking us?! You just made the decision on your own?"

Abhi: (confused)

"Uncle, I need to talk to my parents!"

(He storms downstairs. A few minutes later, he's standing outside with his mom and dad.)

Abhi:

"Mom, Dad, I need to talk to you. Now."

Father:

"What's wrong, Abhi?"

Abhi:

"What the hell is going on?! How can you fix my engagement without even asking me?"

"You didn't even give us time to talk, to get to know each other. At least give us some space!"

Father:(calmly)

"You have four days left. That's enough time to understand each other."

"And besides, your marriage will happen when we decide — not when you feel like it."

Abhi:

"And what if I don't like her after that?!"

Father:(smiling confidently)

"I can see through you, Abhi. I know you like her already."

"Then why are you pretending to reject her?"
