Alexander pushed the door of his study open, only to find Guinevere seated there, waiting for him. The sight of her made his heart swell with unexpected warmth. She had been waiting for him. Profoundly joyous, he immediately waved Edmund away. The man bowed and retreated quietly, leaving them alone.
"What have I done to earn such a joy?" He asked as he fully entered the room. The door closed behind him with a soft click. Guinevere remained seated, her gaze fixed on the side bar. She was irrevocably exquisite.
Alexander set aside the parchment he was holding and moved toward her, choosing to sit beside her rather than in any of the other chairs in the room. He placed one hand over the headrest of her chair, his fingers just brushing the space behind her head.
"I must say, you are making me deliriously happy." His smile stretched. She had come to him without his asking, how could he not be happy? Even if she had come to demand for a thing, he would let her have it.
