THESE NEXT CHAPTERS WILL BE A LITTLE DIFFERENT FROM WHAT YOU'RE USED TO. THERE IS NO CENTRAL POV, NO CHARACTER WHO IS NARRATING. INSTEAD, THERE WILL BE A THIRD-PERSON NARRATOR THAT TELLS WHAT HAPPENS. AFTER THIS SCENE IS CONCLUDED, THE STORY WILL RESUME ITS USUAL NARRATIVE STYLE.
The three young men had tried their hardest not to fall asleep. Following dinner with their family, they had returned to the room full of excitement and ladened with coffee. If things had gone as they planned, they would have made it all the way through to morning with no incidents. However, most things don't go as people plan.
So, instead of staying awake and alert for the intervening time, the three identical men had drifted off to sleep. It wasn't a gradual, one by one thing either. No, all three young men fell asleep at the same instant. Almost as if someone, or something, had interfered with them. A force they did not yet understand.
