Levi stayed with Leon till late in the evening, and though they didn’t discuss why Leon was upset, Levi could hazard a guess. Snuggles bed was nowhere to be found, nor was the dog itself. The absence of the little creature seemed to hang in the air, thickening the silence between them.
So, Levi remained by Leon’s side, offering his presence as a silent form of support. At some point, he had to gently detach himself from the blonde to fetch water for both of them, but other than that, nothing else was said or done. The atmosphere was heavy with unspoken words and emotions that neither of them voiced.
As the sun dipped below the horizon and night enveloped them like a blanket, Levi finally told Leon he had to go. “I’ll come back tomorrow evening,” he promised softly. “And maybe we could talk about it—about everything.”
