Hearing footsteps approaching the room, Lei Wei quickly cast an invisibility spell on himself and instructed Rui to stop whoever was coming.
But to their surprise, it was Chen Zeng and Xi Shen. Rui attempted to block their path at the door, but Xi Shen sensed something was wrong. Without hesitation, he pushed past and opened the door—only to find Long Yuzhen beside Zoe's bed.
The moment he saw him, Xi Shen unsheathed his sword, ready to strike. Lei Wei was about to stop Xi Shen's action but before then Rui quickly stepped in. "Wait! Please listen—he's not here to hurt him!"
"Move," Xi Shen snapped, unconvinced, advancing with full intent to deal with Yuzhen himself.
"If you truly want to save Senior Zoe," Rui shouted, stepping in his path, "then let him finish what he's doing!"
The tension in the room spiked.
"Stop."
Chen Zeng's voice cut through the air—calm, commanding.
