[A Greda is a special ability which one awakens in certain situations. Note my use of language, 'certain situations' means practically any situation. Someone has even awakened his Greda when he was sitting on the bus.

A Greda is only awakened by a very small percentage of all people. Even if one is a genius, there is no guarantee you will awaken a Greda ever. That being said, having a Greda might not make you stronger. For example, there was a once a genius Heavy Knight who reached the Second Tier when he was fourteen and was hailed as a magnificent genius who would do great things in the future.

Well, like most stories go, he was seen as a threat by people who feared his potential and they put out a contract on his head. He was out on a mission when he was ambushed and was put into a dire situation. He was about to die when he awakened his Greda, but can you guess what he awakened?

He got a book. A book. Just a book. When the book appeared in front of him, his assailants were so surprised that the guy was able to catch them off guard and defeat them.

In the end, a Greda can be either be a something like a skill or an object. It may not be useful, or it may be. In the end, it may all be a matter of luck.....Excerpt from: THE MYSTERIES OF GREDA]

[George's POV]

"Excuse me?"

"What do you mean 'excuse me'?"

"I think I heard wrong. After all, I just heard you say your parents were the most horrible people and you'll forever hate them but that can't be true, right?"

"It's exactly the truth. You didn't hear wrong."

"Then what was the point of the entire story you just told me?"

"Just entertainment. What else?"

"Entertainment, huh? I'm glad to see feeding me false information is entertainment for you."

"What else would it be for me?"

"Yeah, what else would it be? I am but a toy for you to play with whenever you want to."

"What are you saying? Was that supposed to be a joke?"

"I think so, but I'm not really that good at jokes."

"Was that another joke?"

"Yes."

"You're really not good at this, are you?"

"Not really, but I think we've digressed. We were talking about your parents, weren't we?"

"Yes we were, but I'm not going to tell you about them. I'd rather talk about something more....interesting."

"Like what? And anyway, why am I speaking to you so much? I supposedly came here to relax, but I've done nothing but listen to you talk about yourself for the whole time I've been here. I'm going, it's not as if I'm doing any relaxing here."

I turned to go back to my side.

"Wait George, I'll actually tell you why I got you over here in the first place."

"And the reason is, I want you to be careful around Alistair."

"Around Alistair? That's absurd! If there's anyone I should be careful around, it would be you, you compulsive liar!"

"Compulsive liar? Do you know what that means?"

"Not really, but I've heard it being used before, and I think it perfectly fits you."

There was suddenly a shout from behind Josephine. Amanda, who had been silent this whole time, started to berate me.

"That's enough, you dimwit! I've been sitting here, listening to you be naive and foolish this whole time and its time I tell you the truth."

I recoiled in shock. Amanda, the girl who had been so silent the whole time I had seen her here, is shouting at me. Even Josephine seemed to be in shock, as her response was to call out Amanda's name in disbelief.

"Amanda?"

"Did you call me a dimwit?"

"Yes I did, because you are! You're so gullible, stupid. Why do you trust Alistair so much? If he had to kill you to survive, he wouldn't hesitate!"

"He wouldn't do that! You guys don't know him like I do."

"The fact that you think you know him shows demented you are!"

"Do you really think I'll sit here and watch you insult me?"

"Yes you will, cause you're demented. I thought we already established that."

"You're really asking for it."

"Just sit back and listen! Why do you think you know Alistair?"

I tried to ignore her, but I couldn't help but think about her question, and I didn't have an answer.

"Judging by the look on your face, you don't know why either."

"So? I still believe I know him better than you do."

"I beg to differ. You think you know him, but you know nothing about him. Do you know where he comes from or who he was before he ended up here?"

"No, I don't. But-"

"You've known him for three months, and you suddenly think you're friends who could die for each other? Don't make me laugh. He's a deceptive person who's merely using you for whatever reason he feels like. The heck, every person here is using each other for their own needs, it's not unusual."

"What are you going on about?"

"I'm not really sure at this point but there's one thing I'm trying to make clear to you, and that is that you are nothing but a tool to him."

Her words brought back unpleasant memories. Hadn't Alex said the same thing when he beat me up in the shower? I had a bad feeling about what they were saying.

"You guys are merely trying to see the worst in every one. If you stopped suspecting everyone around you of being manipulative, you probably would be able to pull together there would be no enmity."

"No enmity? Are you listening to yourself? Do you really believe we can all put aside our differences and sing a song while we dance around a fire? Just get out, listening to your words makes me want to puke."

I got up and walked away in a huff.
