Asqa stared at Michael with hate burning behind her fading eyes.
She never thought that he will betrayed them because he was the one who had also been touched by the Ancient One's power directly.
Had the Ancient One's grasp on him weakened? Had Michael severed the link? Or was the Ancient One too focused on Clyde to even notice this betrayal?
The pain in Asqa's chest was growing worse. It crawled through her nerves and began to blind her vision.
Her body was trembling, her limbs become heavy.
She grimaced through gritted teeth as Michael approached her step by step with sword ready in his hand.
His expression was calm. That cold certainty of a man who thought he had already won.
He looked back briefly over his shoulder, checking the distance. But no one was close. The others were keeping their distance.
Maybe they were too wary of her, or too cautious to interrupt. Either way, they gave him space.
