Leo found himself in a void. As he looked around his vision began to clear. He found himself upon the top of a mountain overlooking forests and cities scattered over the vast distance of land. It was a beautiful sight.
"Hello there," a deep voice stated. Leo scowled as he heard the sound surrounding him.
"Who's there?" He called out in reply.
A grunt filled the silence.
"Perhaps it would be best if I showed you who and what I am." With a harsh whoosh of air and the sound of great wings flapping, Leo beheld a majestic sight as a silvery dragon flew up slowly before him from somewhere below. The dragon's size was unimaginably huge. and the yellow eyes that lay upon him demanded respect.
Yet they were soft. But even though the dragon's eyes were soft with a sense of calming, Leo could tell this dragon had seen wars older than he could think.
This dragon was battle hardened.
His jaw dropped as he marveled at the sight of this creature presenting itself to him.
"I am Bærlon Dashar," the dragon's voice resounded.
"I am the dragon that resides within you. 00pm-10 A separate entity. A being of its own mind. But while I am mine own self, I am you as well.
I am your Symbiote."
Leo sits down upon the rock.
So this was the being that was bound to cause a possible lifetime of hardship? This was the creature that was attached to his own soul?
"Why am I here?" Leo demanded. He stared up at the silver scaled dragon.
"Am I dead? Is this the afterlife?"
The dragon let out a chuckle.
"No," It said.
"You are engaged in a bloodbath with the monsters that came in the Twilight of a new day, using the blizzard to cover their movement. Had it not been for your farmers and livestock, it would have gone unnoticed until your township was too late.
You, my dear Symbiont, have undergone a transformation, rendering your body to be that of a fiery blue dragon.
Balefire makes up your armor and covers your sword. It will burn away at your enemies until any remnant of them is no longer in existence. To put it in my perspective....you are a miracle to your people on the battlefield. Your secret is out, Saphire. You are no longer the simple elven Noble that they used to know you as. You are a deadly weapon. The Hand of the Creator. A mighty being of immense power.
I just wanted to talk to you for the first time before I go into my slumber. But before I go..."
He turns his head to use one eye to stare deep into Leo's.
It almost felt to Leo like it was staring into his soul.
"Use this power in the name of justice and for no other means.
May the Creator smile upon you and grant you victory."
The mountains and the land around faded out and Leo's vision cleared to see himself engulfed in blue flame.
He felt the overwhelming urge to kill those that stood in his way.
His sword was of fire. His will of steel. His soul was one with the dragon.
He realized in that moment that he could never repay for whatever this new found power was.
The townspeople that had been fighting had stopped and scrambled to the side while he used brute force and no mercy to destroy the monsters that had attacked.
He weilded the blade in its fire slashing away at the horde that seemed would never give up.
It wasn't long before the fray was over and Leo stood there.
His breath came in great smoke clouds. He stood there for several minutes staring at his surroundings before the form began to disintegrate. There he was. Just him, hunched over hands on his knees.
The people he had grown up with and known throughout the years stared at him in shock and awe.
some backed away. Others simply stared in disbelief.
In the crowd of people stood Jasper.
His face was unchanged.
"I...didn't mean to scare anyone," Leo said to them.
"It just happened...I dont fully understand it..."
They shook their heads and some muttering could be heard among the township.
Jasper, who had also assisted in the fight, shifted his bloody spear and walked over to Leo.
"It's okay, brother," he said reassuringly.
"I guess we can all say that if it wasn't for you, Juniper would have been doomed to certain death. I don't know what the hell it was I just witnessed but something amazing changed inside of you. You looked like a dragon. And though it was something fearsome, once the initial affect it has had on everyone dissipates, I think they will have a new found form of respect for you."
"Well I guess that's a good thing,"Leo responded.
He set his hands on his head and looked about himself.
"Who was slain?"
Jasper grinned.
"Luckily, you showed up just in time. No one here was killed.
Maybe some bumps and scratches but they'll be alright."
He slaps Leo on the shoulder before stepping off toward the town.
Leo sighed and began to make his way back to the house to rest.
