Chapter 683 - Chapter 682: Situation Spiraling Out of Control

The mechanical arms on Otto's back were originally controlled by a neural inhibitor chip. Unfortunately, the chip was burned out, which led the arms' AI to hijack Otto's consciousness, turning him into the obsessive and violent villain known as Doc Ock.

So, as long as a new and functional chip could be created to replace the broken one, he should theoretically return to normal.

Peter used the Stark tech fabrication unit in Happy's place to craft the chip. During the process, Norman even lent a hand—after all, when his mind was clear, he was still a scientist.

Eventually, Peter succeeded in making a replacement chip. After installing it, Doc Ock did indeed return to his senses. This victory boosted Peter's confidence, and he moved on to the next case—Electro.

But what Peter didn't know was that Electro was actually quite satisfied with his current state. Not only had he regained a physical form, but he'd also experienced the thrill of godlike power. In this new world, he saw endless possibilities for himself.

Electro also noticed the immense energy source contained within the fabrication unit at Happy's house. To him, it was like an irresistible feast calling his name. Simply put, he had no intention of going back.

At the same time, another storm was brewing—Norman.

Viewers who had seen the future videos of the first Spider-Man (Toby's version) knew exactly what kind of man the Green Goblin was. His condition was even more severe than Doc Ock's—he was in the late stages of a full-blown split personality.

Despite his current calm and helpful demeanor, once that evil persona surfaced, he'd immediately turn into the manic, cackling, destructive menace known as the Green Goblin.

Yet Peter in the video showed a shocking lack of vigilance toward Norman. This wasn't just naïveté anymore—many viewers felt it was sheer forgetfulness. After all, he had just been burned by Mysterio, and here he was, once again trusting villains too easily. It seemed he hadn't learned a thing.

Peter then developed a device that could drain electricity from Electro by attaching it to his chest, eventually turning him into a regular human being.

Watching all this, Strange shook his head. "Oh Peter… I mean, future you still doesn't get it. What you think is a cure, they see as punishment—torture even. You're stripping them of their powers."

Peter frowned. "But if they don't become normal, they'll just die when they go back!"

Strange replied calmly, "That's not the point. You want to pull a snake's fangs? Fine. But before you do that, you better make sure it can't bite you. Either tie its mouth shut or wear armor. If you do nothing and just reach in…"

Peter shivered at the image, like he could really see the fangs. "They seem pretty calm, though…"

Strange said nothing more, just motioned for him to keep watching the screen.

In the video, while Peter was working on a cure for Norman, a group of reporters and paparazzi arrived downstairs, led by J. Jonah Jameson—Spider-Man's #1 hater. He'd gotten wind that Peter was living in the building and had come to catch him red-handed.

Meanwhile, inside, Peter's Spider-Sense suddenly flared up—danger was approaching fast.

He rushed out of the lab, called for Aunt May, and scanned the faces of each villain in the room. They all seemed calm. He couldn't tell what was wrong.

But for the viewers, it was obvious—Norman.

Though Peter had learned a few things after his run-in with Mysterio—his Spider-Sense had become much sharper—he still hesitated. Then, suddenly, he shot a web toward Norman, who was quietly trying to slip away.

Bingo. He'd sensed something. But... was it already too late?

Norman—or rather, the Goblin—finally dropped the act. With a dark, sinister expression, he looked at Peter. "Neat little trick. Spider-Sense, huh? Norman's on vacation…"

He had officially become the Green Goblin.

Peter's face hardened, and May, quick-witted as ever, used the moment to slip away into the lab and grab the half-finished cure Peter had been working on.

Of course, the Goblin noticed her and sneered, "I can see she's the one holding you back. You're fighting for her holy little mission. But we don't need your saving. We don't need a cure!"

Then he turned to the other villains, trying to sway them. "Our powers aren't a curse. They're a gift!"

Peter tried to reach the real Norman again. "You don't even know what you're saying."

But inside Norman's mind, the Goblin had fully taken over. He let out a cold laugh. "Oh, I know. I've been watching you from the shadows of Norman's cowardice. Watching you struggle—for what you want, what you believe in. But the world keeps forcing you to choose. Gods don't have to choose, Peter. We take what we want."

At that point, even Peter knew there was no turning back. He shouted for Aunt May to run.

Just then, Electro ripped off the device on his chest and blasted a bolt of lightning straight at the fabrication unit, seizing the Arc Reactor he'd been eyeing all along.

That reactor—originally part of Stark's suit—was now in his hands, and its immense energy surged through him like fuel for a fire.

The Goblin struck next, launching a vicious attack on Peter. Sandman, for his part, remained neutral and slipped away in his sand form. Only Doc Ock—now sane again—stood with Peter. Even in his restored state, Doc Ock was no match for Electro. He was blasted right out of the building by a wave of electricity. Thankfully, his mechanical arms saved him from splattering on the pavement.

The fight had begun.

Peter and the Goblin clashed in an all-out brawl. Down below, the reporters finally got the scoop of a lifetime and went wild like they'd hit the jackpot.

Meanwhile, the Lizard, locked in a van outside, tore through the vehicle and escaped.

At this point, everything had gone completely off the rails.
