Today's banquet, the Landon Family didn't come, but the Foote Estate, Haworth Family, and Gale Family did.
Charles Foote, Julian Haworth, and Oliver Gale sat at one table, as if the people around them were out of place, creating their own world.
Even the attendees, who were all elites themselves, had to admit that these three were the best of the new generation, aside from the one from the Landon Family.
They were the focus of attention wherever they went.
Though it seemed like the young master from the Haworth Family was not in a good mood.
Julian Haworth kept drinking one glass after another, and Oliver Gale couldn't help but chuckle and say, "Who had the audacity to upset our young master Julian?"
Julian replied grumpily, "None of your business."
Oliver clicked his tongue softly, "You're really upset, huh? Why not tell me about it, and I'll help you deal with it?"
Julian glanced at the gossiping Oliver, knowing he just wanted to enjoy the drama instead of helping.
A hint of sarcasm in his eyes, "It's Quiana Sutton, go ahead and teach her a lesson."
Oliver: "..."
Julian just couldn't seem to stand Quiana Sutton. Obviously, Quiana was so adorable, and he couldn't help but curiously ask,
"Why do you dislike Quiana Sutton so much? With that vengeful look, I even thought she abandoned you for Durrell's embrace."
Julian clearly didn't want to engage further: "Get lost—"
Oliver: "..."
He muttered under his breath, "Back at Imperial View Manor, Durrell told him to get lost because of Quiana, and now Julian tells him to get lost because of Quiana too. What kind of karma is this?"
Hearing Oliver's muttering, Julian couldn't help but raise his voice.
"What did you say?"
A sudden shout startled Oliver, and he looked at Julian quite displeased:
"Why so loud? I'm not deaf."
Julian grabbed Oliver's shoulder, forcing him to look him in the eye, his gaze somewhat dark and cold.
"What did you just say? What happened at Imperial View Manor?"
Oliver, seeing Julian's devouring look, furrowed his brow tightly.
He replied rudely, "What could possibly happen at Imperial View Manor? The only special thing today is that Quiana has moved in."
Julian: "..."
He felt utterly helpless. Earlier, he teased Quiana about never being at Imperial View Manor, and today she moved in. His face felt like it was burning with embarrassment.
He looked utterly devastated, muttering, "How could Brother Durrell do this, letting this girl move in."
Suddenly thinking of the situation, he abruptly looked up, staring directly at Oliver: "Is Brother Durrell planning to make this girl the mistress of Imperial View Manor?"
Oliver: "..."
This time, he was truly impatient, his voice a bit hoarse, "I'm not him, how would I know? Besides, why do you care so much? I'm truly curious if you're into Durrell or into Quiana, caring so much about their relationship."
After he finished, he patted Julian on the shoulder, speaking earnestly: "If you like Durrell, neither the Landon Family nor the Haworth Family will spare you. If you like Quiana, you might meet an even worse end, considering Durrell's nature. What's his is not for anyone else's taking. So you have no hope, just give up these thoughts..."
Julian: "..."
Oliver's words were unbelievably infuriating, and he retorted through gritted teeth, "Get lost!!! I don't like anyone!!!"
Charles Foote quietly held a wine glass on the side, saying nothing. He too was a bit surprised to hear Quiana had moved into Imperial View Manor. He knew Durrell would eventually have Quiana move in, but he didn't expect it to happen so quickly.
Evelyn Windsor's attention had been on these three ever since she entered the room. She had been resisting the urge to inquire about Durrell's whereabouts, but after nearly two hours, she couldn't resist any longer and walked over to them.
Julian saw Evelyn approaching them, and whatever he wanted to say, he swallowed it back down.
Evelyn was one or two years older than them, and he always addressed her as Sister Chloe.
"Sister Chloe, congratulations on winning the Oscar for Best Actress."
Evelyn's lips curved into a bitter smile, thinking she'd be happier if Durrell were here to congratulate her himself.
Biting her lip, she anxiously asked, "Has Durrell been busy lately? Why doesn't he answer my calls?"
Hearing this, Oliver gave Evelyn an inscrutable look: "Durrell had a car accident a few days ago, and he's currently recovering."
Evelyn was momentarily stunned, then quickly asked, "How did Durrell have a car accident? Is he at Xiangbei Hospital now?"
Charles shook his head: "No, he returned to Imperial View Manor. As for the cause of the accident, it's still under investigation."
Talking about it, a rare seriousness appeared in Charles's eyes.
The surveillance on that stretch of road had just happened to be cut off, indicating the other party was well-prepared.
No matter how much he investigates, he can't find out who hit Durrell.
The Landon Family's way of doing things is undoubtedly arrogant, and there are plenty of people who dislike the Landon Family in Capital City, but there are almost none who dare to actually attack, let alone execute it so flawlessly, especially in Capital City.
He's genuinely at a loss.
After hearing that Durrell was in a car accident, Evelyn couldn't help but worry. She said to Charles, "Can you take me to Imperial View Manor to visit Durrell?"
She knew that aside from Durrell's few brothers, others weren't allowed inside Imperial View Manor.
They'd get kicked out if they went.
Julian, full of pent-up frustration all evening without an outlet, suddenly found a target to vent at and icily suggested, "You'd better not go to Imperial View Manor just to upset yourself."
Evelyn looked at Julian in confusion.
Oliver intervened to mediate, "Julian means Durrell needs to recuperate quietly now, and it's best if we outsiders don't disturb him. Waiting until he's recovered to visit won't be too late."
After saying that, noticing how Julian remained unmoved, he secretly gave him a hard kick.
The pain made Julian flinch, and he reluctantly said, "Yes, that's exactly what I mean."
Despite her deep concern for Durrell, Evelyn had to admit Oliver made a good point.
Patients need peace and quiet, and it's best not to disturb them for now.
After Evelyn left, Charles looked at Julian in surprise: "I thought you didn't like Quiana because you believed Evelyn was a better match for Durrell."
Julian made a dismissive sound. He didn't like Quiana because, despite her rebellious appearance, she pretended to be obedient in front of Brother Durrell. Who could believe she had no ulterior motive?
As for Evelyn, despite her reputed scholarly background, she was too gentle, always considering what a lady should do, overly cautious, and wholly unsuitable for Durrell.
Moreover, years ago, she left the country without saying a word, not even a goodbye. It shows that in Evelyn's heart, her career was paramount, leaving Durrell in second place.
However, if a marriage alliance were needed, Evelyn would certainly be an excellent choice.
