Although a bit disappointing to learn he won't be getting any direct support from his superiors, it was expected to a certain level. This is why Darde's first instinct was to take matters into his own hands, which did appear to be the correct choice in hindsight.
Even if he made a contract with the shady cult of sorts, it's far better than leaving his family's life in danger. It's worth it to him, as long as they remain safe everything will be worth it in his eyes.
