"I'm actually telling the truth," Jake said, his expression shifting slightly. "Even though I trust Edgar Frost's tech, I still can't shake the feeling that something might go wrong."
Misty smiled and walked over to him. Seeing her approach, Blair quickly scrambled to her feet and slipped on her dress, clearly embarrassed—she hadn't expected Misty to come any closer. Misty then sat down beside Jake on the bed.
"I know you are worried. That's why I didn't bother you all this time," she said gently. "But the truth is—Amber has been dying to try out her new body."
She added, "I will hand over to her now," and without warning, her body went stiff. Her pupils dilated, and the energy around her shifted. Though it was still Misty's body, it was clear she was no longer in control.
Jake and Blair exchanged glances. That eerie grin spreading across Misty's face didn't belong to her. Amber was in charge now.
"Amber?" they both said at once.
