Chapter 433 - A Goddess Who Rob The Devil

Seven Sins System Chapter 433. A Goddess Who Rob The Devil

Puriel's PoV

Puriel's laughter rang out, pure and melodic, as she darted away from Azrael in a game of chase. Her golden hair streamed behind her as she ran.

Azrael, his dark hair tousled and his eyes alight with mischief, was right behind her.

"You're not getting away this time!" he called out.

Puriel glanced over her shoulder, her eyes sparkling with a joy that she hadn't felt in centuries.

"We'll see about that, El!" she replied.

They weaved through the park. For a moment, they were just two kids, free from the weight of their responsibilities.

Puriel felt a sense of liberation that was almost intoxicating. It was as if the shackles of her divine role had been temporarily lifted, allowing her to experience the simple pleasure of being a child again.

After a while, they both collapsed onto the soft grass, panting and giggling.

Azrael's eyes met Puriel's. In that instant, they weren't a goddess and a devil; they were just friends.

"Let's go on the swings again," Azrael suggested, his breath still coming in short bursts.

Puriel nodded, her smile never fading. "Race you there!"

They both scrambled to their feet and dashed towards the swings, their earlier fatigue forgotten in their eagerness. They reached the swings at the same time, grabbing a chain and hopping onto the seats. They pumped their legs in unison, rising higher and higher until they were nearly level with the treetops.

"Remember the last time we did this?" Puriel asked, her voice soft and tinged with nostalgia.

Azrael chuckled, his eyes far away. "How could I forget?"

"But it feels just like yesterday," Puriel said, her voice barely above a whisper.

The memories came flooding back to Puriel. The sight of him was almost too much to bear. It was as if the clock had been turned back five hundred years to a time when she thought she had lost him forever.

Puriel remembered the day she lost Azrael. It had been a bright, sunny morning much like this one.

In her desperation, Puriel had gone to the Soul Heaven's Gate, the place where pure, innocent souls entered the Light Realm. She believed Azrael's soul, being as kind and gentle as it was, would have surely found its way there. She scoured the ethereal plane, searching for any sign of him. But no matter how hard she looked, Azrael's soul was nowhere to be found.

The realization that his soul might have been consumed by the demon was a blow that shattered her heart.

The cruelty of it all was almost unbearable. Not only had she lost him in life, but it seemed she had lost him in death as well. She had knelt before the gates, her hands clasped in desperate prayer, begging the heavens to let her be wrong. She prayed that his soul wasn't consumed but merely lost, wandering somewhere beyond her reach.

The hope that he might have been reincarnated as a human was the only thing that kept her going. She clung to the belief that one day, she might find him again. This hope fueled her ferocity in the Great War three hundred years ago.

Every demon she fought, she fought with the burning desire for vengeance, for the slim chance that in destroying them, she might free his soul.

For centuries, she had searched for him, prayed for him, fought for him. She had never truly given up hope, even when the years turned into centuries and her search seemed more and more futile.

Who would have thought that fate had such a cruel twist in store for her?

Azrael hadn't died that day. He hadn't been consumed. He was the very thing she despised—the devil himself.

The misunderstanding that had torn them apart now seemed both tragic and absurd. All those years of grief and anger, and it had all been for nothing.

Two hours felt like the blink of an eye. Puriel and Azrael had lost themselves in the simplicity of their play.

Puriel had to admit she really enjoyed it. She hadn't felt this free, this light, in centuries.

But as all good things do, their time together was coming to an end. Azrael suddenly stopped moving, standing still for a moment before turning to her. His expression was serious.

"I think we should go back now," he said.

"Why?" she asked, her tone slightly disappointed. She wasn't ready for this to end.

Azrael pulled out his phone, glancing at a message.

"I just got a message from Katrina. She asked me to go to her office."

"Katrina?" Puriel echoed, a frown creasing her forehead.

"I can't let my double meet her. Penelope already suspects my double. I have to meet her myself," Azrael explained.

But Puriel didn't want this to end so quickly. She wasn't ready to let go of this moment.

On impulse, she reached out and hugged Azrael's hand, smiling sweetly up at him.

"How about after we eat ice cream?" she suggested, pointing to an ice cream stall that had just opened nearby.

Azrael glanced at her, his face blank. He gave her a flat stare.

"I think you're pushing your luck too far," he grumbled.

"This is a date, right?" Puriel countered, her smile unwavering. "An ice cream is the bare minimum."

Azrael rolled his eyes, clearly exasperated.

"Ever heard of gender equality?" he protested.

"I don't have any money," she reasoned, looking as innocent as possible.

He grunted and snorted in disbelief. "Fine," he conceded, shaking his head. "Never thought a goddess would rob me," he complained, but he started walking toward the ice cream stall nonetheless.

Puriel couldn't help but smile despite Azrael's annoyed face. She fell into step behind him.

Azrael's grumbling only added to her amusement. She found his exasperation endearing.

Puriel's hand moved instinctively to her chest, reaching for her necklace. It was a habit she had developed over the centuries.

But as her fingers searched for the familiar chain, she found nothing. Her hand patted her chest once, twice, frantically, before the realization hit her. Her necklace was gone. Puriel's steps faltered, and she stopped in her tracks, her face turning pale.
