Chapter 620 - Cheated

"Can I go and wake up Joy?" Dom asked, he walked into the dining room while Natasha was busy setting the dining table. He was bored sitting in the living room all alone and it felt wrong somehow that he was doing nothing while Natasha was doing basically everything else while still going to wake up Joy.

"Are you sure that you want to go and wake her up?" Natasha looked up.

"Mhmm, why not? You're still here, I can go wake her up that way you don't have to do it. Besides, she's my princess, I love doing anything with her." Dom smiled.

Natasha did not know when she smiled, but she did. "Sure, go ahead, but just be careful, she might be a bit grumpy." Natasha chuckled.

"Don't worry, I'll be careful." Dom laughed, he was confident that it would not be too hard for him to wake up Joy.

"Alright then." Natasha replied. Dom rushed up the stairs, he was so bored and all he wanted to do was see his princess and play with her a little bit before he had to go back to the office. He also could not wait to see the sparkle in her eyes when they told her that they would be going on a mini-vacation soon.

Dom walked into Joy's room. He smiled seeing his lovely princess fast asleep. She always looked so peaceful when she was asleep.

"Joy." Dom called softly, he knelt down beside her bed and smiled.

"Joy, my darling, wake up." He chuckled when she squirmed instead of getting up. She must have been really enjoying her sleep for her not to want to wake up.

"Joy, my darling, princess, wake up right now." Dom said again, he nudged her softly. He was not one to wake someone up aggressively, especially not his little princess, which was why waking Joy up was proving a bit difficult.

Natasha shook her head. They were not down yet. Knowing Dom, he probably did not want to wake Joy up since she was sleeping.

Natasha shook her head, she walked up the stairs and into Joy's room where Dom was bent down beside her bed still trying to wake her up.

"I knew you would not be able to wake her up so easily." Natasha said. Dom frowned, it felt like she was laughing at him.

"Hey, you try to wake her up if you're such an expert at it then." He replied.

Natasha shook her head, she walked to Joy's bed and leaned over, "Wake up my baby, time to wake up." She whispered in Joy's ear before placing a kiss on her forehead and carrying her up.

"You cheated, you're not supposed to carry her up." Dom accused as soon as he saw Joy open her eyes.

"Cheated? I did not know that this was some sort of game?" Natasha scoffed.

"You were supposed to wake her up, of course carrying her disrupts her sleep instantly." Dom argued.

"Oh hush, I never said you could not do that." Natasha rolled her eyes at him.

"Daddy." Joy called still very sleepily.

"Yes my princess." Dom instantly stopped arguing, he carried Joy from Natasha.

"I'm here my princess, please wake up, it's time for lunch." He smiled as he gave her a kiss on the cheek.

Natasha laughed, she did not know why she laughed, but she just did. There was just something about seeing Dom fawning over their daughter that was funny and yet at the same time endearing.

"It's your favourite fries and chicken." Natasha said, as soon as she uttered those words, Joy's eyes shot open and she turned to her mother.

"I want to eat lunch right now mommy." She said.

Dom and Natasha looked at each other and laughed. Joy was just so funny and a foodie especially.

"Wow, next time I won't waste any time, I'll just mention food and you'll be wide awake." Dom laughed.

"Not just any food daddy, but fries and chicken." Joy corrected causing her parents to laugh even more. She was definitely wide awake.

"Hello daddy." She said hugging him tightly.

"Hello princess." Dom smiled. "You definitely love your fries and chicken." He laughed.

"Mhmm, she gets it from you." Natasha said, she walked out of the room and Dom followed behind her with Joy.

"Hey, why do you have to make it sound like it's a bad thing?" Dom asked.

"I never said it was." Natasha responded.

"No, you're right, but whenever it comes to something that involves me, somehow it always sounds like a bad thing." Dom pointed out.

"You are just being childish, that's what." Natasha scoffed, she walked into the dining table and Joy giggled seeing her parents talk. They were not arguing, just bantering.

"Let's end this now and just sit down to eat. Joy darling, go wash your hands please." Natasha turned to Joy who nodded. Dom put her down and she rushed.

"No, no, we need to address this, there is just a way you sound when you say something about me." Dom frowned.

"Hey, maybe it's true, maybe it's not. All I know is that I do not think of it like that." Natasha said.

"You do do it." Dom said.

"Maybe I do do it, but it's not on purpose." Natasha said.

"Well you do it yes, without noticing." He said.

"Or maybe you're just reading too much into it and it's not as hostile as you say it is." Natasha said, she sat down.

"I am not reading too much into it, you can be hostile without knowing you are... you can be really cold sometimes." Dom said sitting down.

"Can we just end this conversation before it turns into something unpleasant?" Natasha asked, she took a fry and ate it, she was hungry.

"Fine, fine, just because I don't want to spoil the mood, it's fine." Dom reluctantly agreed, however, he would definitely come back to this later.

...

Joy watched her parents eat, she was overjoyed. This was the first time in a long while that they had lunch together. She missed this and she loved it when they were all together.

Dom looked at Natasha as if asking her for permission to say what he was going to say next.

Natasha looked down at Joy's plate, she had cleared it as expected and she did drink an entire glass of water, so she was sure that it was a good time to tell her the good news that she would absolutely love.

Natasha nodded and Dom was overjoyed, he cleared his throat and called, "Princess, we have something to tell you." Instantly Joy's interested was piqued.

"Okay." She looked at them both.

"So my darling, we've been thinking about how lonely you said you are and how bored you feel all day and it makes us sad." Natasha began.

"Yes, so, we came up with a solution that we think you will love." Dom smiled, Joy nodded in expectation.

"We're going to go over to your grandparent's and grandpappy's house for a week." Natasha smiled.

"Really?!" Joy gasped with her eyes open wide as she looked at both her parents and they nodded.

"Mhmm, really my princess." Dom nodded.

"Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy." Joy said she got out of her seat and ran around the dining room in delight. Natasha and Dom laughed, this was definitely the sort of reaction they expected from her.

"Slow down my darling, we don't want you to get hurt." Natasha laughed.

"Okay mommy, okay." Joy said as she sat back down in her seat.

"When are we going mommy?" Joy asked.

"Well, your daddy should be the best one to know when exactly we are leaving." She turned to Dom.

"Yes, yes, so since we need to be there for a full week, we can leave on Sunday, or even Saturday afternoon so we can get settled in." Dom smiled.

"Let's leave on Saturday daddy." Joy said. "I can't wait to see grandma and grandpa and grandpappy and Alfred since he's over there." Joy said, she was already excited.

"Do you think you can leave Saturday afternoon?" Dom asked Natasha, he knew she had a business and a new store to run so they needed to make sure they were both free.

"I can leave on Saturday afternoon." She replied.

"Yayyyyyyyyyyyyy." Joy said her voice really loud.

"That settles it then, we'll leave on Saturday afternoon." Dom chuckled.

"And what about Aunt Lulu daddy, is she coming with us?" Joy asked.

"Well of course she can my princess, if she wants to. You will have to convince her." Dom laughed.

"Don't worry daddy, I'm very good at convincing people." Joy responded proudly.

"Really now?" both Dom and Natasha asked surprised.

"Yes, yes I do, Aunt Lulu always says it, once she sees my big, cute eyes, she won't say no." Joy said confidently.

"Do not get so proud my princess, you can't convince everyone." Dom joked.

"I can daddy, I can. Don't worry, I will convince you and mommy as well." Joy said with a nod. Her confidence alone caused Natasha and Dom to laugh in a mix of surprise and concern but most importantly happiness that their daughter was growing up so fast.
