Jade stood at the balcony watching the work that was going on downstairs. workers and decorators had come to prepare the grand hall for their housewarming party. She had proposed a simple family dinner,but her Mother had kicked against the idea.
"You are about to introduce yourself into a new social circle and because of the kind of family you are engaged to,a lot of eyes are on you. Your Mother in law has created an opportunity for you by making the house acquisition public, so you have to seize this opportunity and throw a big housewarming party with all of the city's elites as guests so that you can increase your network and it will also be helpful to Yeong " Her Mother had told her when she tried to invite her to the family dinner.
Luckily Mrs Lee had agreed and Yeong as usual just told her to do whatever she wanted. So with her Mother's and Madam Kang's help the invitations were handed out immediately and the preparations were less tedious.
"Madam, a delivery for you from Madam Yoon was sent up to your room. " Soya said snapping Jade back to reality.
"Okay, Thank you I'll see to it" Jade said .
Soya bowed and left.
Jade immediately went up to her room to check what her Mother had sent. Her Mother Madam Yoon was popular for big gestures and over exaggerating so she was never surprised whatever her mother did because honestly she was just being herself and she loved her that way.
And Just as she imagined,as she entered her room she saw a big bag waiting for her on the floor.
"Your Mother sent another housewarming gift " She heard Yeong said as he was reading the card attached to the package.
"I'm sorry. My mom can be a bit too much " Jade said as she didn't know what else to say.
"That's fine, she's just expressing her happiness " Yeong said with a small smile as he closed his briefcase.
"You're leaving again? "
"I'm a little busy today,but I'll be back before the party starts" Yeong said and left.
Jade sighed and went to open her Mother's gift and in the bag was a stunning silver cocktail dress and matching heels. She held the dress up to admire it, she really loved the stones that were scattered on the dress but the slit seemed a little too long. Then she took out the jewelry box in the bag, immediately she opened it she gasped in surprise. she had always wanted this set of her Mother's diamonds and now her Mother was giving it to her or was it a mistake.
Immediately she took up her phone to call her Mother,who answered at the first ring.
"Is the stylist I sent over there yet?" Madam Yoon asked.
"Isn't your housewarming gift a bit too much,I already bought a dress for the party" Jade said
"All the better,as the host there is no crime in switching dresses mid way through the party"
"But isn't the slit too long?"
"No! it's just perfect for your nice legs. This morning I went to pick up my ruby from the designer,then I saw a notification for new dress designs so I just thought that I should do some window shopping. Then I overheard Madam Choi telling her daughter to pick a low back dress,so that she could show off that stupid tattoo she has on her back and guess what, they were buying that obscene dress for tonight's party . So there and then I decided that I was going to make you the most beautiful lady at tonight's party. I know that Madam Choi is still casting her net in my waters, since Ruby is threatening her husband because of their corruption in the subsidiary company. If she decides to show off her daughter's back tattoo,then I will show off my daughter's beautiful long legs ". Madam Yoon said without pausing to take a breath.
Jade laughed at her Mother's stubbornness . "Alright fine,I'll just give a shot at being the center of attention "
"That's more like it. Now the only person I have to worry about her being better looking than you is Ruby, I still don't know where she gets her dresses, could she be secretly designing her own dresses, no that's not it ,she's too busy for that. And what's worst is that she's so conservative with words just like her Mother.They only ever make long sentences that hurt people " Madam Yoon said
"She called to tell me that she wouldn't make it and she sent a gift too"
"That's not a surprise, she's always aloof and cold,make me wonder how she is able to survive in this circle"
"Alright mom,I need to go check on things. I'll see you this evening " Jade said and hung up.

"Others get to wear fancy dresses and attend a grand housewarming party, but I'm stuck in this office with you ,how unfortunate" Tiffany complained .
"I'm not stopping you from attending " Ruby said without sparing her a glance.
"I know right, You're throwing me into the lions den. Imagine I attended without you, with her royal majesty there, I won't have any fun".
"Did you get what I asked for?" Ruby asked
"Delivered to your house, yes and he will be waiting for you when you get home ".
"You can leave, that's it for today" Ruby said and before a blink,Tiffany was long gone.
