I hate being in the middle of a showdown.
Ivan and Dane look ready to go at each other, and I'm not strong enough to pull them apart. However, I don't need to protect Ivan from this guy, which is a good sign. That doesn't mean I won't if I need to. Ivan can kill me for thinking that way later, but I won't hesitate to protect my mate from anyone. He can't say much because he has the same thought process.
"Where are you?" Ivan stiffens, glaring at Dane, but I don't know why. "What hospital?"
"A VA hospital. Where? I don't know." Dane didn't give any more information, and I didn't know what they were talking about, but Ivan had that look he got when he knew someone was lying.
They knew each other, and Ivan remembered him. What did it mean? Dane used Ivan's rank when he greeted him, so were they military friends? No, friends was too strong a word. However, they knew each other as more than acquaintances.
