Meiru took the seed with a small smile before instructing Yue to follow her quickly, unless she wanted to waste her time fighting the demons.

"Why didn't anyone discover this place?" - Freid asked, who had managed to survive the battle against Cloud's group by mere chance, though he ended up so injured that even Ehit hadn't managed to detect his presence.
After escaping from Erisen, he flew in the direction of Verbergen in order to recover, though he didn't think that the first thing he would hear upon his return was that there was a strange secret chamber just outside Verbergen.
"We're not sure, Freid-sama" - replied a demon as he looked around - "Although this place has a slight magical aura".
"That does not matter to me, what I wish to know, is why no one knew about this place" - Freid repeated neutrally. Now that Cattleya was dead, he was the demon with the most power, not to mention that he had the god Alba for support.
"My lord, it is possible that there was a barrier in this place, and the person who entered this sanctuary, possibly took the object that held it" - replied the demon while frowning.
Freid's expression darkened before he let out a sigh - "I want you to investigate this place and find out everything you can."
"Understood, my lord!" - The demons exclaimed as they began to work.
Freid turned around before dropping to his knees - "Ugh..."
"My lord!" - exclaimed a demon as he looked at the new default leader of the clan.
"Don't worry, I'm just hurt after our god's mission failed" - muttered Freid as he stood up and walked towards his quarters, after all, he didn't want to show weakness to his subordinates.
The demons looked at each other before returning to their work.
It didn't take long for Freid to make it home and collapse on the bed as he breathed in pain - "Ugh..."
[I didn't expect to feel your presence, demon...]
"Ehit...sama..." - Freid muttered as he tried to get up.
[Don't move or your body will start to suffer massive damage because you received the shockwave of my attack in full...]
Freid was surprised to hear his master's "kind" words, though he quickly shook his head because he knew this wasn't right. It was quite obvious that Ehit was only concerned about him because he was one, if not the only apostle left, and he served him more alive than dead.
"What is it you wish me to do, Ehit-sama?" - Freid asked as he tried to relax his body so that it would be easier to recover.
[It's simple... I want you to kill Alba.]
Freid's expression changed when he heard this because he didn't expect it - "Why?"
[You don't need a reason, just follow my instructions]
Freid was absolutely silent as he nodded weakly, after all, his life was in Ehit's hands, and if he was honest, it was better to follow the main god of the dimension than the god of demons - "I understand..."
[It's good to hear that you know what's good for you].
Freid didn't reply, he remained without saying a word because it was better that he didn't.
Ehit disappeared after giving his orders, leaving the second of his living apostles in thought.
"Now how do I settle this?" - Freid muttered as he frowned - "No, the most important thing is to know about why Ehit-sama wants me to kill Alba-sama."
"That's simple..." - A dark voice said.
"!" - Freid opened his eyes, surprised by this presence because he recognised it immediately - "Alba-sama..."
"You don't need to fear me, I haven't come to kill or hurt you" - replied Alba, who was only showing her silhouette in front of the apostle-demon hybrid.
Freid kept quiet because he could feel how his weak body was on the verge of collapse - ". . ."
"Oh, sorry, it's true that you received a fraction of Ehit's divine attack" - Alba said while shaking her head - "Anyway, I didn't come here for that, but rather to confirm something..."
"You felt Ehit-sama's presence?" - Freid asked for the first time.
"Of course, it's impossible not to recognise it when I've been in front of him so many times I've lost count, although I'm furious that my loyalty over the centuries has been for nothing" - Alba replied with disdain - "Who knew my boss would want to kill me? Although it's not like I can blame him, I would have done the same thing in his situation."
"I don't understand..." - Freid said as sweat beaded on his forehead.
"It's simple, Ehit is injured, no, it's better to say that his divinity reserves are at rock bottom" - replied Alba with disdain - "Currently, he is but a shadow of his former self, to the point that he couldn't even maintain his connection to the mortal world for more than 5 minutes... this is the perfect opportunity for anyone to enter his dimension and kill him, a pity that he is the only one who can breach his dimension, unless..."
"You want to use the Irregular and his group to open the entrance..." - Freid said as he connected the dots.
"Right, and I have the perfect way to be able to negotiate with them" - Alba added as she flashed her eyes at Freid, ones she felt she had seen until very recently.
"You..." - Freid said with surprise - "You are..."
"Sleep for now, Freid... you will be of use to my plans..." - Alba muttered as she snapped her fingers.
Freid tried to fight sleep, but the state of his body and Alba's influence were too much for him.
"It's a good thing I came, not only was I able to discover my former master's intentions, but I also eliminated one of my most annoying problems" - Alba muttered as she walked over to Freid and bit his neck.
Freid began to writhe in pain for a few seconds before lying completely still. Slowly, his body began to dry out, leaving only bones and skin.
"Ready" - muttered Alba as she wiped the blood from her lips - "For your services to the demon race, I grant you a quick and painless death."
Alba quickly disappeared from the place, after all, she knew that someone would come to check on Freid's condition, though there was something that bothered her, and that was that with the death of the old general, the demons would enter a new civil war to see who would become the new king.
"Well, that's not like it's important to me..." - Alba muttered as her silhouette disappeared.
And just as Alba had surmised, the demons went on a rampage after news of Freid's death spread through the higher ups.
They all threw themselves into a fierce battle to be the new ruler of the demons now that the queen was gone and the top general had become a mummy.
The "great" victory against Verbergen was gone, and the ancient city of the elves was now full of blood, the blood of the people who captured the city.
* * * * *
"A huge scent of blood," muttered Lyutillis with a frown as the spirits were bathed in stinking blood filled with a dark aura, though it was a relief that they were not being influenced.
"Did something happen, Lyutillis-san?" - Shizuku asked as she looked at the princess of the elven realm.
"Oh, it's nothing, though it's a bit annoying that you keep calling me Lyutillis when we're close now that I'm also with Cloud," said Lyutillis as she shook her head, "Call me Lyu-chan like Meiru-chan does."
"I understand, Lyu-san" - nodded Shizuku as she watched Lyutillis shrug her shoulders.
The princess of the elf clan looked at the golden fruit again, when she felt something change in the forest.
"Lyu-san?" - Shizuku asked as she frowned noticing how the elf's expression changed drastically.
"Huh? Oh, I'm sorry," muttered Lyutillis as she shook her head, "But it looks like something happened to the sacred tree."
"Sacred tree?" - repeated Shizuku as she narrowed her eyes - "What is that?"
"It's the tree that functioned as the core of the barrier of the sea of trees, it was destroyed" - replied Lyutillis with a frown - "I mean, now that the inhabitants of Verbergen are inside the labyrinth, that tree no longer has a function to fulfil, although I'm concerned with the idea that the demons managed to get its core, which was fed by a divine stone."
"Maybe you're thinking too much," said Shizuku as she smiled slightly, "Did Meiru-san know about this tree?"
"Of course, she was here when.... Oh... Oooooooooh!" - Lyutillis smiled slightly as she understood the reason for her companion's words - "I understand, Meiru-chan was the one who got the core, though I'm a bit sad that the tree had to die in order to get its core, after all, that tree was like my son"
"I'm sorry" - said Shizuku while shaking her head.
"No, you don't have to apologise" - smiled Lyutillis as he looked at his companion - "We all have to die one day".
