A smile formed on Jayce's mouth as he collapsed down to his knees, clenching his chest.
'Fuck, that hurt,' He thought, wiping the blood off his lips.
He had been abusing his magic far too much, and he was now suffering the consequences for doing so. Honestly, he should count himself lucky that the supernatural didn't notice his weakened state when it was running away.
'Now is not the time to rest.'
The supposed "shapeshifter" was still in the building, probably hiding somewhere amongst the crowd. He needed to get Amaya out and somewhere safer until he could figure out what the hell a shapeshifter was.
Pushing through the pain, he grabbed a sink and pulled himself off the ground.
"Can you stand?" Jayce asked, reaching his hand out to Amaya.
His words kicked her out of her daze as she looked up at him. Her eyes latched on the blood smeared on his jacket and the bruising on the side of his head. She quickly shook her head and grabbed his hand, letting him pull her off the ground.
