I'd hear the thing, even as sly as it was. It had been following me, and I knew that, so I lead it to a clearing. I wasn't interested in spending any more time in the mud and dirt after all. I'd look into the shadows of the swaying green giants, and as I expected, a pair of large blue marbles stared back.
I had been told of its size, but I had been deluded by its abilities and light steps. I looked up at it, not double, not triple, but quadruple my height. In that moment, I should have felt fear because of all I knew about it, and the weapon I had been given to deal with it, but all I felt was pity.
It must of hurt, to be twisted and contorted, to be turned into a monster at another's whim. There was something familiar about that. So, from one monster to another, I'd catch it and try to 'save' it.
