Chapter 15 - The Promise

Hide was transferred into a white room. There was a white figure in front of him. It has no features or any appearance. It was just a shade of figure that seems to resemble the size of Hide. It seems to be sitting and looking at Hide.

"Well, isn't it the Child of the God's Eyes."

"Did I die?" Hide asked.

"Not entirely but more to say that you are still alive but transferred here. I will say that watching you is quite insightful." The figure answered.

"So who are you?"

"Ahh yes, sorry for not introducing myself. I am the One. As I am one and many. But let's not worry to much about me. I'm more interested in you."

"Are you God?"

The One chuckles.

"No, but I'm a being that is in this plane of existence. Now let's not talk about me but let's talk about you. I wouldn't want to keep that promise of yours to the miss waiting."

"Promise."

"That's right, the one with the girl."

An old memory appears.

A scene of where Hide and Sona was standing on the beach.

"Hide, promised me that you won't die and be there for me till the end."

"I promised."

The memory ends there.

"So, what will you say Child of the God's Eyes?" The One asked.

"What of you?"

"I'll be here watching you and countess others. But I will say that, you intrigued me quite a bit. So don't let me down." As the One somewhat seems to be grinning and smiling.

Soon everything around Hide breaks like glass.

Hide wakes up. He gets up from the aftermath of the explosion from Nagasaki. It was still dark and the full moon was still up but covered in dark clouds.

Edens Garden was no more and it seems that only the forest remains along with the crevices from the explosion. Hide slowly gets up from the ground.

His clothes somewhat almost gone and having several bruises. It seems that Hide, also took some heavy damage from the explosion.

Hide stands up and starts to walk away from the scene. As he was about to walk away, he falls down onto the ground. It seems that his right leg was fractured and had some broken ribs from the impact.

Hide gets back up and noticed that he wasn't healing as fast as he could. He ignores it, and continue to walk away from the premise and rejoins his friends who escaped.

As he was limping, there was a blood trail behind him. It seems that his wounds were getting worse. He stops and leans against a tree, but soon faint from bleeding out.

Not too far from him, lies a mysterious figure who was on the road. The mysterious figure sees Hide passed out next to a tree that was close to the road.

"So you must be the one who survived that explosion that I saw back there. How did a kid like you even end up here? Let's patch you up at my place."

The figure looks at Hide who seems to be worn out and in critical condition.

The mysterious figure picks up Hide and put him on its shoulder. The mysterious figure walks off into the distance with Hide.

Some minutes passed.

Hide wakes up to see a faint light above him. He looks at his body to noticed that he was bandaged up. He hears the sound of someone cooking in the other room. Hide tries to get up.

"I wouldn't get up if I were you. Wouldn't want to open those wounds. Aside from that, I'm the one who patched you up and took you to my cottage."

Hide sees a woman who seems brought in some food. She sits across from him and give him a plate of food. He noticed that the woman was quite young. She helps him up so he could eat.

After the two finishes eating. The woman starts a small fire in her cottage.

It was quiet and the sound of the wood could be heard burning.

"Thanks for saving me."

"No need to thank me. I founded you almost dead and so I brought you here."

"So who are you?" Hide asked.

"Right, I'm Izumi. Don't be fool of how young I looked but I'm around my mid-40s. And you are?"

"Hide."

"Hide huh? I have a question about your wounds. How did you manage to survived that explosion?"

"I don't know either it was just a promise I made to a friend or the gods themselves who saved me."

"I see."

As Hide was about to scratch his right eye. A growl was heard inside the room.

"Bashoman." Izumi stated.

The growl stops. It seems that there is an invisible beast in there that seems to resemble a lion and dog. But somehow Hide could see it along with Izumi.

"Is that your pet?" Hide asked.

"You can see him?" Izumi questions in surprised.

"Yeah, I noticed that it was just laying there and seems to be patiently laying there."

"That's Bashoman. A beast from another dimension. A loyal companion to me till this day. Besides from that your left eye sure is something."

"Right."

"Such an amazing thing to see in person. I guess the legends are true."

"So, I guess you never saw someone with it before?"

"Indeed, throughout my travels I never saw someone with it and to see it in person is really amazing."

"Are you an adventurer?" Hide asked.

She smiles at him and replied, "I sure am. One of the most famous adventurers out there and formidable among the lands."

"It seems that you need some help in guidance. Having those eyes sure are powerful but if you lose control, it will corrupt you."

"How?"

"Well, I'll train you. If you're trained by me, you'll be a famous and strong adventurer like me."

"What would make me believe that you are a great teacher, if I were to be trained under you?" Hide asked.

"Well, I saved you and you are indebted to me for saving you. Along with that, I'm the only one who can help you because many people will go after you for your eyes."

Hide didn't know how to answer her.

"So what will you say?" Izumi looks at Hide in the eyes.

"Fine, but I better not be going through hell for this." He sighs.

"Well then, we'll start training once you recover. But let me advise you, you'll be going through hell, but once you're done with this training. You'll be a strong adventurer like me." As Izumi seems to be flaring in confidence and laughing.

Hide could somewhat felt an ominous air as she was laughing. It seems that Izumi is happy to have Hide as her disciple.

Throughout the night, the two shares both of their stories. Learning about each other's past.
