Her eyes were red. She wiped her eyes with her right hand. The yellow sunlight shone over her room. It was quiet.
That maid... She's so dumb.
Susan looked down at her hands. Fair, skin-looking hands, a beautiful finger, a polished nails and she shifted her gaze upon the door in front of her.
"I wasn't even good to you..."
Regret seen in her gaze. She looked at side of her bed. She saw a illusion of the maid, as if she was still there attending to her. But the illusion slowly disappeared.
"Did I? Just lose?"
She closed her eyes. She then opened her eyes slightly. Her expression was somehow unhappy, she got away but at what cost?
Strange. Suddenly, I missed those old days.
That thought was wild. Yet, a faint smile appeared on her face, she was peacefully calmer that day.
"Looks like I- won't get down here alone."
She stared at the broken piece of her mother's necklace. She giggled. She held her face.
"Father."
A formal speech came from her mouth. She never spoke of that way, not even for anyone or anything. Though, she did so at that moment.
I will drag you alone too.
A tingling sensation. She felt in her body, it was rather chilly that morning. Soft sounds of bird chirping. The leaves of the trees were moving, one that turned color to brown fell thus, the green one stayed.
Was it my imagination?
It was still stuck on her. The event of yesterday. She lost her composure, she was angry. Every words she spoke, she herself felt burdened of it.
"Why did I say that?"
She covered her face with both of her hands. Monica felt overwhelmed, she was scared of the person she was becoming. It was not her.
I never felt much more than a villain. When did I- start changing?
The curtains were swinging gracefully, blew by the winds, Monica held her arms together as if she felt the weight of her words.
I may not be kind nor i am evil. These thoughts of mine were getting more creepier. Or was it?
A buzz.
Hm? Who was-
Unknown number. That strange, out of nowhere phone number all in a suddenly contacted her. She did not know what will come when she took that call.
"Hello?"
A familiar voice. A very familiar one. She knew this voice. As if she did not see them in person yesterday.
What she wants from me? Does she gonna try more of her petty schemes on me?
"Monica, it's me. Susan. Glad to hear you so sound."
Monica raised her left eyebrow. She did not understand why Susan acted like that. She was not this calm before. Something was different.
Glad?
"Susan. What you want from me? Aren't you had enough of your scheme from yesterday?"
Susan paused. No reaction nor reply from her. As if she was taking a moment to say something. A heavy sigh can be heard from the side of her phone.
Wait, is she sighing? She was the one that called me.
Weird. So strange indeed. How Susan got hands on her number. She was the International President at that.
How the heck she got this number? Is there a spy on my side?
"I called you..."
Monica could not hide his curiosity. She want to know the reason behind that call. The strange actions of Susan did not make it better.
"To strike a deal. Between you and me."
Speechless. She did not know how to respond. She was left silent. A lot of thoughts came to her mind.
A deal? Why? Are there more to this than I thought?
"Tell me."
A giggle. Susan was giggling. It was raw and honest. She finally dropped her guard down. Monica can feel it.
"I'll work with you."
Her eyes was darkened.
"To catch and drag the culprit down, you will need me."
Monica was confused, she looked away from the phone for a while and she was hesitant. The surrounding suddenly become more chillier than it was just now.
"Who's the culprit?"
Her voice tensed up. The tension somehow reached Susan and her too started to get more serious. She clenched her jaw. Her left fist. Her gaze was still on the broken necklace.
I never thought- it will come to this at the end.
"Are you sure you're ready to hear it?"
Susan wanted to confirm Monica's determination. Is she really that set up on getting revenge? Susan wanted a reassurance.
Because if you hear it, you can't stop it anymore. This will cause you to dive deeper.
Susan's eyes filled with something. Anger. A rage.
"It won't stop here, just to remind you."
How corrupt was our family. How it feed on those people's lives. You will lose you mind as if you go deeper.
"Yes."
A short reply. Susan laughed. Monica was truly unexpected, a variable that should have been eliminated from a long time ago. But here was she.
She might be more a worse person than I thought she'd be. Damn that innocent face.
"Haha... You're really-"
Susan touched her hair, she knew she has come this far and there was no point of stopping either on her choice. Though, she also knew the consequences of her actions.
"My father."
A silence.
"It was my father. He was the mastermind."
No response from Monica. Susan still continued speaking.
"I also a part of it. My mother's death and your father weren't a coincidence."
She knew, she saw it. That specific day. She saw something that she should not have to.
"That day, my mother also got caught in it."
Tears. Her hands were shaking, her strength was just left to barely hold the phone up to her ear. Monica was relieved. She was glad. She was right all along.
Dad... Finally, we found who's it.
A knock sound. Look like it came from Susan. A man voice. It was rather soft yet so disgusting. Monica heard Susan's reaction, knew who was it. It was him.
"Knock, knock my dear. Who's you talking to?"
He opened the door slowly, his face was slightly dark, his evil were scary. There was no a familiar fatherly side of him. He was purely a different person.
"You-"
