Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

Hello, readers! I AM HERE! Okay, I'm going to put my writing in a nutshell: Some horrible writing by a new writer that thought (stupidly) that, well, I've read a lot of fanfiction! Why not make a few? So yeah. Sorry for keeping you from the chapter. Well, for those of you who actually read these.

*Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto.*

*Sora's POV*

I was laying flat on my back, enjoying the warmth of the sun that mingled well with the cool breeze.

Sort of.

Despite the lovely setting, I could still sense the ANBU that were watching me from high up in the trees. And once that thought crossed my mind, I couldn't shake the feeling.

The walls that surrounded the village seemed to loom over me, mocking me, daring me to climb them, to reach toward freedom.

The ANBU that watched me silently, making sure that I wouldn't dare go near the gates, warning me not to try.

I closed my eyes, imagining the adults who constantly tell me.

'Don't reach for the untouchable.'

They say.

'Don't reach for the impossible.'

'Don't reach of the unattainable.'

'Don't reach for the absurd.'

'Don't reach for your freedom.'

*Sakkaku's POV*

I strolled through the streets, trying to ignore the stares and the bows the people gave me as I passed.

"Look, isn't that the prince?"

"I heard he tried to run away yesterday!"

"What an ungrateful brat."

"I heard that he tried to leave the village."

"Isn't it against the rules for him to be here?"

The shinobi assigned to guard me gave me a sharp look.

A look I knew all to well.

The look that clearly told me to behave.

To stay in my place.

To follow the rules.

*Kichona's POV*

"Kichona."

My head snapped up, my eyes meeting the disappointed ones of one of my clan elders. His name was Sugoi, I believe.

"Please, Kichona." he continued, his unimpressed expression not changing. "This is an important family matter, and as the eldest female child of the main family, you must look appropriate, at the least."

"I-"

"Kichona!" Sugoi barked out, his face reddening with anger. "The women of the family are expected to make an appearance, not to make a report! Silence yourself!"

I opened my mouth to protest, then closed it quickly after seeing the expression on his face. I mentally sighed, and simply nodded my head. He narrowed his eyes, and spat out, "The men are like birds who will fly into the sky, seeking glory beyond. The women will tend the nest, awaiting their arrival. The same goes for you."

He paused for a second, calming himself down.

"You, as a woman, will never be more, will never be less. For that is the tradition set upon us by our ancestors."

Is it okay so far?
